so i take it the model is not editable without the original version? and its not possible to remove this layer or make the texture sit on this transparent layer instead?
In order to understand this it might help to know a little bit about the history of creating aircraft for the various versions of FS. The FS2000 default aircraft had no VC at all. The DVC was pioneered in CFS2 & the FS developers were slow on the uptake. It was only some of the later FS2002 models created with FSDS2 & Gmax that featured the fully functional DVC we're all familiar with in FS9 & FSX.
I suspect the transparent layer that Daube mentioned is the "screen" on which the DVC gauges were 'projected' on those FS2002/4 models. The DVC panel texture sits just behind the transparent screen. The Falcon is an FS2002 model after all. The fact it works so well in FSX just shows how good it is.
PS. Our own Pete Daly created one of the few FS2000 models with a fully functional DVC.
