FSX taking ages to load

Postby eddywinch82 » Sat Aug 23, 2008 9:09 am

Hi there, I have some problems with FSX at the moment,
When I load the game it takes ages to get to menu possibly 20 minutes and when I get to the menu and choose a plane even on low graphics setting the plane sometimes doesnt display properly at times and the game stutters unable to move smoothly. I have Windows Vista Home Basic and a 3 GHZ intel pentium processor may be dual core, note the game requires 1 Ghz of power and I have had the computer a compaq since december 2007 any help would be appreciated.

Regards

How much memory does your computer have? Which graphics card/chipset do you have?

The problem with long load time is one of two things:  Slow computer, or...

A gazillian aircraft in your hanger.

As far as Vista, I haven't had *any* problems in sim performnce due to Vista that were not ultimaterly self inflicted.

Also, slow and stuttery simming is likely due to your settings for scenery and traffic set too high.  Try knocking your settings to lower settings then increase them a bit at a time until your performance starts to suffer, thn back somethng down a notch.  I sacrifice ground detail to keep a good frame rate.

It's all a matter of give and take.

could the stutter problem be due to the graphics card I have or should it work ok with the following card that I have :-

---------
Card name: Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family
   Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip type: Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family

Should I get a new graphics card and if so which one do people recommend ?

Well I have lots and lots of airplanes on my FSX and I run vista but I dont even bother upgrading becuase it would be useless if it wont change anything and I can wait a few minutes just find something to do when its loading ;D

Try moving your FSX.cfg file and restart FSX.

I guess i skipped past reading the post on your system. You need to save some Dough and get up to date.

For what its worth

You have to show hidden files and folder fom your control panel, folder option.

XP
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX

Vista
C:\users\User Name\Appdata\roaming\microsoft\fsx

Remeber to reapply any tweaks etc.. that work for you back into your fsx.cfg file.

These P/C's will run FSX pretty well, some better than others.
