2D views

I have had FSX now for a year and finally added more memory and upgraded my graphics card to 512 MB.
Programs operates fine but I have a question. When in the 2d panel mode, and I attempt to raise the view in order to see the runway, only the side views raise.
I know there is a transparent mode but it is sh__ty. When in 30% transparency it is hard to see the gauges and the runway..
Have I missed something? Is possible to raise the view in the 2D mode as in FS9??? :(

That's a snap, Rectifier, just wondering that myself. I just upgraded my machine and have downloaded the FSX trial version to check it out before buying the whole thing.

As you say, "Shift-Enter' appears only to lower the panel (or raise the eyepoint) in the VC view, not in the 2D. That's no use to me, I do a lot of 'real weather' instrument flying and need to see all the instruments clearly at all

You must HOLD the keys for at least 2 seconds. They aren't "instant" like the FS9 method!

Thanks for the tips, UU, Fr. Bill.

I find that it doesn't entirely solve the problem though. If you use the view keys to 'look' in another direction - which I expect that we're all in the habit of doing when taxiing, lining up, checking traffic etc. - the forward view reverts to the 'default' one.

'Shift-Enter' works as in FS9 in the VC, but not in the 2D. It looks as if they've just left it out of the 2D setup. Maybe they (wrongly IMO) assumed that everybody would use the VC all the time.

Are you trying to permanently change the 2d panel seat height/angle?

No, Esselbach - just want to have the option of dropping the 2D panel a couple of notches to help me taxi and fly some of my favourites (like the DH88 Comet) and also be able to see the horizon, instead of just sky, when climbing out.

Well, in that case simply "grab" the 2d panel and drag it DOWN just a bit...

You'll have to "grab" and drag it back up whenever you want the default setting though, 'cause it won't snap back automatically!  ;D
