What addon to purchase

Postby markag » Mon Jul 28, 2008 5:26 pm

I've been flying FSX for a while, and am finally thinking about purchasing a payware package. I want something to help out with ground scenery. I primarily fly in the USA and north america and really would like something to help out there.

The only thing to do is search around the payware sites, and probably ask down in the payware topic.  Just a suggestion, since I'm too cheap to buy payware. :P

I have both GEX, and UTX for the US. If you can afford them, I highly recommend them. GEX replaces the ground textures, and UTX replaces the landclass, roads, bridges, enhances city lights, adds road traffic, and more. You can read more about them online

Ultimate Terrain X

Ground Environment X

Both addons are compatible with eachother, and both greatly enhance your VFR experience

I've been looking at the GEX information on their website. I would like updated scenery and I'm looking at downloading GEX, but I haven't made my mind up about UTX yet. Also, I don't really want to download both right now for money reasons. If I had to pick one or the other, which one should I get? Also, if I go with GEX first, can I get UTX later and install it second?

Of course. Both are completely seperate programs, are fully compatible with each other, and can be installed in any order

Hi,

Just be careful with your settings in UTX, it can increase your loading times and slow you down if not set up properly.

Install, run all updates, use default settings, then use this as a guide.

GEXn Improves impormance for me.

For something different i sometimes fly using megascenery titles http://www.megascenery.com

I would go for GEXn first

Thanks for the recommendations. I downloaded GEX and will be installing it shortly. I will probably wait a while before I get UTX or anything else.

FS Genesis Terrain mesh will give you 10m resolution mesh throughout the whole US (and more if you want).  I highly recommend GEXn and UTX for the USA.  I like Flight Env. X too.

Definitely get yourself an AI package like My Traffic X or Ultimate Traffic, just make sure it's written to work with SP2-MTX is.  The AI will allow you to really turn up those settings to around 50% and you'll never get that w/default traffic.

An overclocked Q6600 will run those addons very nicely.
