1FSX_C172_Patriotic_Texture Help Please

Postby BobF » Sat Jul 26, 2008 5:05 pm

I downloaded and installed the subject texture zip file in FSX that I got here. There seems to be some items missing as the plane does not display correctly. There is no gear and the prop spinner is above the plane, a box appears below the plane and there is a strange panel on both sides of the fuselage. If anyone can please help I'd be thankful. All the other C-172 texture folders have a lot more files and they display fine. I don't know how to post an image here. Thanks, regards, Bob.

Hi. I got your e-mail reply and answered it. Thanks. Adding the fresnel ramp and the texture.cfg did not help. I have the same exact problem with one other of your textures  for the C-172. If anyone that installed the textures can help me out, I'd sure appreciate it. Best regards, Bob.

As an update I just also added the C172_t_spec.dds to each of the planes texture folders that did not work and both they work now. Thanks all, regards, Bob.

Glad we both got them working. I always thought if you had the texture.cfg like:

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\texture
fallback.2=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture
fallback.3=..\..\..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture

That it would look back in the main texture folder for any missing textures. Can anyone explain this please. Regards, Bob.

[color=#000000]1) Yes, the fallback.1 is to the aircraft's base \texture folder. All common files should be in this folder.

2) The fallback.3 entry shown above is an error. ACES made a mistake

Hi Bill. Thanks. Can you please explain why putting the Spec dds file in the offending texture folder fixed the problem. It is in the main texture folder of the aircraft. Should not the first entry of the texture.cfg have found it Also should we correct the texture.cfg's in all of the planes to your corrected version? Thanks and best regards, Bob.

Hi. The only two that I installed were your C-172 textures and both of them required the spec.dds file, and the texture.cfg and the fresnel texture to work. I have installed hundreds of planes and textures and these are the first that had that problem. I am going to look into Bill's advice as I have a problem with several FS9 AI planes that I use in FSX as AI. Best regards, Bob.
