Double check your "weather" setting in the scenery.  Set the to "detailed clouds" and the coverage slider to a higher setting.  That should help.

Now that you mentioned it, I think I'll go check out "Dolly".

If you want better weather you need to invest in Active Sky X & X Graphics. Buy them as a package they are worth the money. It leave the default weather in the dust. 8-)

LIke Gary I use Active X and X Graphics, others use Active X with FEX, but whichever the clouds and the weather are mind-blowing, as well as winds at altitude.

Nevertheless sometimes I get part way through a flight, get bored with the weather theme, and go in and choose real weather.

It always comes up showing fine weather on the map interface screen every time, but when you return to the game, the real weather begins to arrive.  So don't be put off by the interface as for some of us it always claims fine weather - until you get going - and then the real stuff happens.

Just like in real world VFR.

I always fly with real weather, sometimes with the static initial situation sometimes I choose the dynamic 15 minutes option.

85% of times is shiny , sometimes flying over my country when raining I can see that it's real indeed also in the game but the impression of a general fair weather tendency is always in mind , dunno why.... :-?

Active Sky and X Graphics are excellent addons for getting interesting and beautifull weather, this is absolutely true.

Also sometimes, the real weather will give you nothing but clear weather, depending on the times and the places, that is true as well.

However, whatever you're using, the best way to get interesting weather during your flight is to set the weather modification frequency slider to High (or Medium for FS9). I guaranty you that you'll get some nice weather layouts after 30 mins of flight.
