737 Help

Postby OVERLORD_CHRIS » Sat Jun 28, 2008 12:50 am

I have been trying to add this paint job:

Image

to my 737 file for the last day, and all I keep getting is this:

Image

And when I added the same paint job to the 737-AEWC, the body come up, but the wings are black.

Image

And I know the other stuff is black as the paint was not made for them, I needed to see if it worked.

I even copped the default 737 file and deleted all the normal textures, and added just the four needed for this and it does the same thing, and come up as a black plane.

Here is where I got the textures from:
http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads ... n=military
And when I tried to down load their model, their is only a few files and i can't get it to work, to add the textures.

hmm maybe the paint is not working properly ?

well you see that is why I tried it on the Wedge Tail 737 just to see if any thing showed up, and every thing except the wings show up, even the landing gear hubs are painted blue. 3rd pic

But when I try and add it to the normal 737, nothing at all shows up, just the black plane from the 2nd pic.

And when I try and down load the 737-700 BBJ model it only gives me the "model", "in case parts look broken add 737 lights" and "texture" folder, nothing else, no aircraft CFG. And I have tried 4 different models, and it is the same on all of them.

it depends on your graphics card. Some textures on third party stuff comes up black as well for me. (like that jeep in Simv Misc FSX, the wheel are black :o)

Are you sure its just textures? Everything Ive ever downloaded from posky has been a complete aircraft. Are you trying to put this on the default FSX 737? If so, that wont work. Check again and see if its the entire aircraft.

EDIT - Nevermind... went to dl it and saw that it is indeed a texture pack. Im gonna give it a try and see what happens

But you may wanna start here, there is a base pack for the C-40B/C

Ok, got the base pack, then the textures. Made sure to alias the panel and sound to the default 737-800. Everything worked fine for me. Did you put the common files in each texture folder?

WTF!!!! Don't know how you got it to work, but I do have every thing in there.

And at first I did add it to the FSX 737, before I realized to just go get the model.

Here is what I got folder wise:
-Manual
-model.bbj
-panel(737-800)
-sound(737-800)
-soundai
-texture.10015
-texture.10040
-texture.10041
-texture.20042
aircraft cfg
Boeing 737-800.air
Boeing737-800_check
Boeing737-800_ref
File_id
OSBeoing737-700BBJ.air

And the start of the file so you can see what I have, and I did move all the common files:

Hmmm, well... that pretty much looks like what I have..... but I noticed one thing. I got the C model, not the B. Oh, and I dont have the ai sound file either

Did you want just the B model? Think Ill get the B and give that one a try. Will let you know later how it goes.

I just deleted the other textures and tried the other 3, and I still can't get any where.

Hey could you link the model that you used and I can see if it is the same or the wrong one for me. and then I can go step by step of what I did until it went wrong. :)

I got the B model textures, and put them in. They too worked just fine. Yea, I was gonna say to delete what you have and start over. I used this as the base pack;
http://www.projectopensky.com/downloads ... asepackage

First one on the list. Then from there I added in the textures, panel and sound. Let me know if you need anything else.  :)

Ok went back redown loaded the base pack, and when I check the textures that came with it there was nothing their. But when you go to Air craft CFG, it showed 3 already, which none of these worked.

So I deleted them and added the new textures, and I don't even get a model to show.

Did you remember to re-alias Panel.cfg to the default 737?

I find the Posky site very confusing. The Aircraft.cfg included with the Boeing C-40B-C Basepack appears to be for the textures included with os_usaf_c-40B-C_texture_pk_1.zip

PS. Your Aircraft.cfg edit works fine for me. This is in the FSX Demo.

I tried the DL too, and it worked for me.  You might want to consider scrapping what you have as far as that particular DL and retry it.

If you saved you original DL zips for the base and the textures, just redo your un-zipping and additions (Add the textures and modify the .cfg).  You shouldn't have to worry about the effects, but as Hagar mentioned above, do your panel aliasing (I did "sound" too) and of course the thumbs.

Your .cfg looked good (Worked for Hagar), and fltsim.0 does go to 10041.  Did you install all four of the textures, or just that one?

Heres a screenshot of my texture folder for tail number 10041. See if yours has the same items in it. Your cfg looks just the same as mine, just in a different order.

Image

-EDIT- I use the old style theme on my comp cause it actually uses less memory and runs much better!  ;D

You did add the thumbnails, correct?  If so, and you did the sound and panel, it should all be good.
