Try the caribeen misson.   :D

haha i did, that was a really fun approach too. but in that the ATC guided me in like i was a baby so it was real easy.

if i were to fly that same approach in free flight, how do i file an IFR/VFR approach so that the journey isnt so long? like what anxyous asked

Yup i just tried that and it worked perfectly. but i didnt use GPS (coz i dont know how) lol

i jsut did what ever ATC told me to and it was dont.

Actually i tried a short flight from Singapore Changi airport to Malaysia's KL airport. TO, cruise and descent were perfect. but when the KL tower asked me to intercept glideslope, i turned on my AP APPR mode on.

and my plane kinda went haywire, it went into a steep climb.

im pretty sure i did everything right. i tuned into NAV1 and set course heading correctly. anyone has any idea?

(By the time the plane went haywire, the runway was in sight anyway, so i disengaged AP at about 4000ft and did a manual approah. Needless to say, it wasnt a very pretty landing lol.)

Hm... One of two things I think...

1: You were above the glideslope when pressing the AP button, you need to be below it to intercept it.

2: You were tuned to the wrong ILS.

Like I said, try flying from TISX - TNCM (Princess Julianna).

Enter everything in the flight planner.

If you wanna enter a route whilst flying, you can open the flight planner, or:

Open the GPS with Shift + 3 (most aircraft).

Locate the button that says D WPT, the D will have an arrow running through it.

The top row should be highlighted.

If your GPS has knobs in the button right, rotate the small knob to change character (in the airport identifier) and the large knob to advance to the next character.

If it's got a sort of D-pad, press right and left to change characters, and up and down to advance to next character.

For an added challenge in the flight planner, use some waypoint, and navigate with VORs and NDBs.

Much more fun than relying on the GPS :)

im positive that i did both of the above. i just tried flying from glasgow to edinburgh in a 737-800 just now and it worked perfectly. so i dunno, i guess i'll have to try again in the 747

and sorry but i totally didnt get anything you said about using the GPS (lol) maybe i need to read the GPS tutorial in the learning centre.

PS: when so i deploy gear/flaps. As in, how far away from th airport?

0.01 miles to infinity :P

Basically when you're maneouvering to land. I usually set flaps 5 when I'm about 10 miles out or something. As I get closer, I deploy gear and full flaps as I slow down.

EDIT:

Oh wait, you're sure you remembered to turn off altitude hold before pressing the approach switch?

I leave my altitude hold switch on when I press the approach switch?  :-?

Works fine straight on the runway?

its damn complicated for me :(

Yeah.

Go to the Learning Center.

There are four tabs in the top, choose 'Lessons'.

These are all very, very useful.

Reading through everything under 'Navigation' in the Learning Center is also recommended.

Yes what anxyous said but if youve never even flown anything on the game try a cessna propeller and take lessons on that.
It will help very very much..

The first three or four parts (Student Pilot, Private Pilot etc.) uses the C172.
