Try renaming your original FSX cfg file Just change the type file from .txt to .bak .bak is kind of short for backup when you start FSX up it will make a new .cfg file. By doing it this way you can move back all of your tweaks and your starting place as well. 8-)

But this won't erase everything I have installed, right?
In the catalyst control center set mipmap detail level to high quality - it's located under 3D settings.

This is the exact solution. An ATI Problem.
I also experienced this problem.
Setting mipmap quality to high under CCC helps.
just right click anywhere on the desktop. Click on Cytalyst Control Centre.
Go to 3D settings, look for mipmap setting and set to high.
Woalla, problem solved.

I can't seem to find this control center. By the way, I run Vista (:'()if that changes anything.
