Whats a really good military jet package

Postby jimc172 » Mon Jun 09, 2008 3:56 pm

I am new to this forum, so Hello all.
I would like to download a good Militatary jet package for FSX. I dont really care what type it is as long as it has a good working VC and gauges. A F15 or F22 would be cool or even a decent working F14 or F16. Can any body link me to a nice fully working fighter jet package?

The best VC military on the market that I know of is the F/A-18A that comes with Acceleration.  As far as I know all the other jets that you have listed are updated FS9 aircraft and in my opinion the VC is not very good.

Go to IRIS Simulations, they have both freeware and payware craft that are of outstanding quality.  Otherwise, check out the planes here in the downloads section.

Here are links for here, check them out:

Acceleration is an FSX update from Microsoft.  It goes for $30 USF or so.  You can do a google search and get more info on what it comes with.

I can recommend Acceleration.

Must the jet be modern?

The F-86F on AlphaSim is outstanding, worth every penny.

It is.

I don't like the version of the Mustang you get, the but Hornet is awesome, and the Merlin makes heli flying fun.

Plus you get a lot of fun missions.

I fly the F/A-18 all the time, it alone was worth the money to me!

Yes, the Mustang you get in Acceleration is not the historical Mustang, but a modified version for the Reno-style air races. But nevertheless, it is still a beautifull model, with fantastic textures, very good flight model, engine damage management and an excellent VC.

The Hornet is very good as well, very detailled VC, nice exterior model, and the carrier operations are great.

The Merlin helicopter has a beautifull exterior model. The VC looks good but it's not as detailled as I expected. Still nice to have, in any case.

Don't forget that you can still download and install SP2 for free, without purchasing Acceleration

Ok so you're looking for good military jets with nice VCs right ?
Then, here are some tips:

- The F-16: no luck, you only have the F-16 from Kirk Olsson, but the VC has almost no gauges at all, and nothing is clickable. The Mitsubishi F-2 mentionned above is the only "alternative" f-16-like.

- The Tomcat: the one from Dino Cattaneo works, but I do not really like its VC. The exterior model is outstanding, though.

- The freeware F-22 from IRIS: forget it, you won't like the very simple VC.

- The freeware Tornado from IRIS: I think the VC will be an issue for you as well.

- I recommend you all the aircrafts made by Tim Conrad (Piglet): the F-5, the Mistubishi F-1 and the Mistubishi T-2 are all updated to real FSX SP2 models, with nce clickable VCs. There are some other models from him that you might like a lot, even if they are not jets: the Bronco and the Mohawk are full FSX SP2 as well, and generally talking, his FS9 planes all work quite well in FSX.

- The F-18 SuperHornet from Daitsuke: beautifull exterior model, nice looking VC, but nothing clickable though. Definitely worth a try, nevertheless :)

- I have to check my hangar, I have some more jets in there but I can't remember them precisely, sorry :P

Yeah and landing on the carrier looks fun, but hard.
Ill have to consider getting it as one of my expansions.  ;)
