Won't effect me, I'll just stick to FS9!  ;) Although eventually the addons will stop coming.  :(

Gawd, I hope there isn't a new one coming out soon. I'm not happy with how FSX runs on my PC yet. It seems like those who can run it well are just now really starting to get their "teeth into it". I personally think it's too early for FSXI.

I kinda agree. I mean, look how many true FSX addon aircraft are available. Most seem to be older FS9 models tweaked for FSX...

The days of unsophisticated, simple box modeling and cartoonish 2d panels is long over. Having once experienced the level of quality of the default FSX models (which admittedly are much better than previously), even freeware that doesn't meet that level is simply unacceptable by JQP any longer.  Embarrassed

... been over for years Bill .....

Remember 10 years ago we had CFS1 with great 3d gauges. We had dynamic VC's with FS2000 (I built one of the 1st ever 3d DVC helicopters for FS2000 - if not the 1st) . We've had eye candy like chromed switches, great looking gauges, brake fluid piping, etc for some time. FSX has brought the whole box on a great deal but to mention 'cartoonish panels & box modelling' is going back a LONGGGG way & is to derail my argument.

One area where Aces has gone wrong in my opinion is to fail (deliberately or not) to enable backward compatibility with FS gauges. It is probably the one single area that can make GREAT FS9 models (complete with eye candy people WILL be happy with in today's world) incompatible and makes it a lot harder for designers to create new models using stock pre-FSX gauges.

& let's remember that a whole ton of people are running FSX on minimal settings so they would be very happy to have what I mention above.

As far as aircraft are concerned - for now- I personally do not need or want more than the standards I have mentioned above.

& as a real GA pilot I spend most of my flying time looking out the window - the single most important gauge. Efforts need to be concentrated on satellite imagery as ground scenery. The rest will follow. :)

Tile Proxy type interface with the ability to render autogen and allow light, shadow and ground weather condition manipulation

Right now you can fly for free in a 30cm real world with TP and certain areas. It is however recommended a 64bit OS be running for optimal for TP use.

What would be neat if they had diffrent types of aircraft carriers in the next game like british and french and russians :)

Well, there simply was no choice with regards to FS98 style gauges (singletons), as the rendering methods used with that system are simply incompatible with the new, shader based rendering paradigm.

In order to retain FS98 style gauges, ACES would have to abandon the new shader based rendering system, which would have made anything new impossible.

Using the new ACE.exe, anyone with more than two active brain cells can create new, XML gauges to replace all of the FS98 style gauges, including recycling the bitmaps if they wish.

OK, well that explains it, with all the rum I drink there is only one cell firing on all cylinders now a-days    ;D
