FS2004 = August 2003
FSX = October 2006
FSXI = Estimated 2010-2011 (only a guess)

The new Train Sim will be released in 2009 and then they move on to FSXI

Hate to start it but what kind of aircraft do you think will be in FSXI? Besides the ones that have always been in FS.
Will there be some millitary?
The A380?

I hope it comes with some of the vintage jets from the 60,s and 70,s like the 707 and Dc-10

As always - the included aircraft are not that important as addons can cope with that.

More important are things like efficiency of graphics delivery (for ground textures mainly), flight characteristics modules, ATC situations & interactivity, etc.

Also things like pre flight checks, walkaround, default GA AI would be nice.

One thing I don't think MS are thinking is 'easy addonability' - which will be to everyone's, including MSFS's,  detriment. They never liked the fact that freeware addonability is the single main reason FS has retained such popularity. If you really have to pay to add on, I for one will loose interest, this site will close & MSFS will remain a niche for the fanatics who are in reality a minority.#

Let's hope they see the light & make things easier for the driving force behind the genre - freeware addons  :)

I just hope that in the new Flight Simulator (Whenever it comes out or if it does) that it will be more real so instead of saying "Aircarft Overstress" it will actually start to rip apart and that they make it default to have passengers yelling and applauding.

If they do this I will one of the happiest people on this planet! :)

There are plans afoot to make the 3rd party stuff (pay and free) even easier for users to find and install...

'Finding & installing' isn't the core factor.

What about 'make'? ;) It hasn't been going that way ....

Mike Stone as one example & several others have thrown in the towel due to the increasing 'unfriendliness' & learning curve required as we have gone into FSX.

I too would have been active, rather than given up,  on the design front if it hadn't been for the 'life is too short'  ::) factor of what's become involved.

Let's just hope they do make things easier for enthusiasts to get involved in the funnest part of this hobby - design.

I agree with the statements by Pete saying that they should make it more user/designer friendly. Personally i would love to be able to create my own aircraft with an easy to use visual-designer. I am not a good programmer and i don't really get how to the the included SDK. I find that the game isn't as fun because i am not able to make my own customized and waked out aircraft (with in the confines of the physics and logic of airplane building). In the next release i hope that there will be included a new designer and a step by step visual guide showing how to work the designer. :)

I could care less what planes and scenery are in the next FS.

As long as it has better performance than the current one, and actual flight procedures.

Well, to me seems that making "finding and installing easier" assumes that there'll be content to "find and install," otherwise there'd be little point for ACES to invest in developing that concept...  :o

Keep in mind that it was the demands of the customer that drove up the complexity of modeling and gauge programming required these days.  ACES has responded to those demands by adding the programming bits to the FS core that allow all these new features to work.

The days of unsophisticated, simple box modeling and cartoonish 2d panels is long over. Having once experienced the level of quality of the default FSX models (which admittedly are much better than previously), even freeware that doesn't meet that level is simply unacceptable by JQP any longer.  :-[

ACES is committed to streamlining the modeling process, as well as producing a robust, well written and integrated SDK for vNext, and to a very large degree it is the demands of commercial users of the ESP program that is most likely their primary motivation.
