How many aircraft are in your menu?  If you have a whole lot of aircraft with multiple paints, it takes a while.

To speed it up, delete the ones that are collecting dust, or put them in a separate folder for storage. (Or, more drastic, delete the extra textures that you don't use.  How many paint variation of any given aircraft do you need?)

I just did 3 back-to-back COMPLETE/Name defrags using O&O.. still takes 1min 25sec to start up.. but I do have a lot of aircraft and paints on there, so no wonder.

Oh alright. Thats what I thought you were talking about but I wasnt sure. I keep all the aircrafts I download in a folder in my documents just for a back up but if I ever overload my aircrafts alot but thanks ill refer to that

Me too.  I keep all the downloaded zip's in an archive folder.  I'm not sure why, since there's this huge warehouse of zipped downloads on-line, already.  ;)

DON'T forget, that you are opening an application 14gb in size. It varies mostly by hard drive RPM and amount of RAM (and the speed of the RAM).

Mine takes a while to start as well, but only the very first time.
If I close (quit) the sim, and reopen it, it starts in exactely 7 seconds :)
The DisablePreload is in my FSX.cfg as well.

Funny thing is that some planes take ages to load. For example, the BAC 1-11 from dmflightsim. When I select it nd confirm my choice, it takes at least 20 seconds before anything happens...
