[quote]Thanks for the response Nick, now I have other questions.

I have read that as far as PM XP Home will only use 3 gig, is that true?

If it is true then why do they have MB's that allow you to add 4 gig?

I have 4 gig on my MD and under the General Tab in System Properties is shows the 4 gig.

DO NOT MIX UP ADDRESS SPACE WITH PHYSICAL MEMORY
[color=#000000]
The number is NOT... REPEAT IS NOT the PM value you are using or want to use... its the ADDRESS SPACE the OS RESERVES and has NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW MUCH MEMORY IT USES

Indeed so, Nick. In fact, I cover this issue in the very first sentence of my Wiki article:

All 32 bit operating systems (WinXP and Vista32) have 4 GBs of "Virtual Address Space" (VAS) to work with, as that is the maximum number that can be expressed with only 32bits. The VAS table is the same size whether your system has 512MB RAM or 4GB of RAM...

I suppose I could have even been more explicit by adding:

"...up to whatever maximum RAM your motherboard will support!"

Some times I feel like I am going crazy when certain questions are asked..

its not that questions are bad.. its just some of them are easy to find and get the answers to and that one has been covered from many sources for at least a year

Thought that I would let those interested know, I had my userva set to "2880", I had read that it should only be set to "2560" but thought what the heck I would give it a try.  After that I really never thought about it again.  I kept getting OOM errors and the way that I fixed it was to turn all traffic sliders way down, like 5% or less.

Well after reading this thread and the responses from Nick and Fr. Bill I went into my boot.ini and changed it to "2560".  Guess what, all traffic sliders are now up to 30% and that means even boats are up to 30%.

What can I say, sometimes you just have to experience things for yourself.

Thanks to all and as always Nick, thanks for the pricesless advise, patenience and direction that you offer to all on this forum!
