Postby pear40 » Mon Apr 28, 2008 8:53 pm

Recently  I downloaded a boeing 757 from project opensky. Even though it was intended for fs9, I thought it would work in fsx.WRONG!
I need help converting it to fsx . please no techy talk. (it confuses me) :P

Are there no FSX B757s?

It depends on what's wrong with it. For example, If it's a panel and gauge issue, you just either install a new one into it, or replace the incompatible gauges with compatible ones. If the contact points are wrong, edit them. If the glass is messed up, it may be possible to fix, but i'm not sure. Not everything can be fixed, so be prepared to retire the aircraft and get a new model

I use plenty of POSKY's planes made for 2004, in FSX with no troubles. Some dont come with soundsets, but its ok cause I add in the correct one anyways! Post up whats not working and we can go from there.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

sorry about the double post. I am so technically incompetent I   couldnt figure out how to install addons. So I coughed up $25 for add it pro. When I tried to install the addon, it says everything was installed, but on fsx, when I go to select my aircraft it is gone entirely. Or is there a way to install just the model and panel of a 757 intended for fsx, and then install the texture on to the model?

that shouldn't work, because the textures are specifically made on the model they belong to...  :-/

This keeps cropping up. Aircraft without a panel will not be listed on the FSX selection menu. The most common reason for this problem is that the panel.cfg is aliased to an FS9 default aircraft that is not included in FSX. To save me continually repeating myself you might like to read this thread. http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1209096521

FSX has no default 777. Alias it to any similar aircraft with its own panel. The B737_800 will do for now so you can check it out. You can find a more suitable panel for it later.

[fltsim]
alias=B737_800\panel

You might need to do the same with Sound.cfg to get sound.

alias=B737_800\sound

You're gonna have to point us in the direction of where you downloaded it. We could continue guessing, or someone can look at it for you :)

Sorry about the double post (again), but no one has responded and I think I may have found the source of the problem. On the select aircraft page, past a certain point the names of the aircraft are one space too far to the right. And this problem begins where something is incorrectly marked "boeing 757 Icelandair" Could it be that it doesnt have an image for the selection screen? (Sorry, I dont know the technical term) If that is the case is there a way I could make one?

Sounds like you are missing the thumbnail.jpg in the "texture" file.

This problem was also covered here recently. Read this. http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1208843724
