Prop Textures

Postby cuff » Thu Apr 10, 2008 5:53 pm

Knowing that I may be flogging a dead horse here, but does anybody have these same two a/c in FSX and if so, do you have the same texture effect?  If you do, did you find a way to correct it or have any ideas?  I know that both a/c were made for fs2004.  They both fly great on my system and all functions work with both a/c.
Anyway, if anybody has any thoughts or ideas, please let me know.
Thank you

Regards  Ernest

I fixed it on mine, it is pretty simple if you are used to using dxtbmp.exe. I also have photoshop CS2. So here is what I did:

1. Open up the spinning prop texture in dxtbmp
2. Export the alpha channel to your edditor.
3. Make the texture a dark grey color.  The darker the gray the more transparent it will be.  Black is fully transparent.
4. Load back into dxtbmp
5. Export normal prop image to editor
6. Invert the colors so white is now black and black is not white.
7. Load normal texture back into dxtbmp
8. Save as extended bitmap.

Now all you have to do is replace the original texture file with the new extended one and your prop will be fixed.

The d18 and the Howard, as well a several other Milton Shupe and Bill Lyons vintage ac,  have  been upgraded for FSX by Nor-Cal Prop Club.

I think you'll find most of them in SimV's FSX Props.

Makes me laugh when some other people advertise their aircraft have been made fully FSX/SP2 compatible.  When all they do is make the props vanish and take out the windows completely, maybe stop the VC from working.  I wish they`d be completely honest and say what they have really done.  Save a wasted download!  I don`t download many now due to these part fixes.  I got a Connie that was mostly ok, I think the prop needs some work so I`ll get around to it one day-its worth keeping.
