Acceleration Troubles......

Postby Naja002 » Mon Mar 17, 2008 7:25 pm

Hi Everybody,

XP 32-bit

Having a recurring problem with installing FSX Acceleration. FSX (regular, not deluxe) has been working fine. Troubles began with adding Acceleration. I installed Acceleration and this is what I get:

First the splash screen:

Then a black box over the splash screen:

Then after a number of secs--everything disappears and I am back at my desktop.

I have this installed on a 2nd HD. Nothing except FSX and FS9 on that drive. I wiped the drive, reformatted, reinstalled everything--and it was working. I added FS9 9.1 update and No CD--not sure if it worked after that or not. I moved some folders onto that drive. Did not install anything--just moved the folders over. Now I get the same nonsense again: Splash screen, black box, then nothing.

Everything is fine without the Acceleration....

Any clue what's going on here....?

Thanx!

I would suggest the following:
- ensure your video driver is recent
- ensure your DirectX9 has the latest update (9c or something like that)
- ensure Windows updates are there.

Then, I had this black box too, but not for FSX, it was for Test Drive Unlimited. I could not test yet, but I was told that the cause may be in the profile for the game in the NVidia drivers, it is set to multi-display, and it should be changed to unique... but again, I could not test yet. It cost nothing to try it for FS :)

Hi Daube,

Thanx for the input. I went a head and canned Acceleration. I wasted a full day (+12hrs) on all that. Its not worth the headache anymore to me. All I really wanted was the jet. I just DLed one online and I'll use that.

As far as Your post--everything is up-to-date with windows, so that's not an issue. I do have an 8800GT, so it could be a driver/profile issue. I'll keep it in mind. Right now, its on the shelf, but may wind up in the garbage can.  ;)

Many Thanx for the Help!

Just wanted to update this:

The problem was Copilot 1.6 and Acceleration.  FSX works fine with CP 1.6, but Acceleration doesn't.

I DLed and installed CP 1.7 beta 2 and now everything works fine.....

Man, what a PITA that was...!   ;D
