I'm in two minds myself as well.  Running 64bit here.

Did you guys manually download and install the "Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone (KB936330)" from the Microsoft Download Center, or did it show up in your automatic update?

I was considering the manual download, but Microsoft "strongly" recommends installation through automatic update.

Only problem is SP1 does not appear yet in my automatic update, even when I search for available updates...

I just tried searching at least 50 times, still nothing.  I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit, if that makes a difference.

mine was 32 bit....in the update ....i don't know if the 5 language version is the same, but i'm glad i didn't have to worry about it :) and it was definitely smoother running along with the frames increase.....me happy at this moment...getting 25fps over vancouver city in vancouver+ for fsx +gex+utx...with settings that nick advised....but who knows maybe it improved because i stopped eating sugar for 3 weeks now :)

I have the 64 bit(ultimate) too, I wander was it part of the install, and the first few updates???

I take that back I just found it and downloading it now. try going through the start menu for windows downloads, it popped up as soon as I went their.

I'm running Home Premium x64 and did the update last night from the standalone installer. Vista feel more responsive now. I haven't been able to compare FSX performance but i can say the system itself feels snappier.  :)

:D  I installed Vista Sp1 through auto update and have found my machine more responsive.  FSX is running much better but that is more than likely due to NickN's tweaks.
