Request Class B Airspace Transition?

Postby RudeandRude » Sun Feb 10, 2008 7:43 pm

I'm in the ATC lesson and its telling me to Request Class B Airspace Transition but the option never comes up.

It does allow me to "request flight following", is that the same thing?

ok, i waited like 5 minutes.  maybe more.  One thing I noticed is that if I ever pause the game during a lesson then I think everything stops working (rod's voice and everything else lesson related)

As well as flying the instruction lessons, are you also reading all of the lesson material provided in the "Learning Section"? I think you would find that helpful.

Yeah i spend a good amount of time reading everything before going into the actual flight lesson.  Cant say I understand everything, but I read it.

Flying is not as simple and "cut and dried" as many people like to think it is. Even FSX doesn't come very close to the real thing unless you know how to manipulate the settings, etc. But as they say, the basics are all there!

Just keep reading and flying the lessons and you will figure it all out. Hint: read through past posts on this forum and you can learn a whole lot from some of them.

My lesson on Air Traffic Control is definitely messed up.  Rod says we're going to land at Snohomish.  So I see the airport in the distance...then i see it closer...then we pass it.

I think "ok maybe he is going to turn around".  And he just keeps on going...and going..and going until we finally crash head-on into a mountain and then plummet into the sea.

:-? That doesn't sound right to me. You do know that it is YOU that is supposed to fly the aircraft and NOT "Rod" ... right? I ask because you said that you keep expecting "Him" to turn around.

Class B airspace is controlled by ATC usually around large airports whereby you must request clearance to enter. If you don't get ATC acceptance into the airspace then you risk flying into another aircraft, ala Aerom

Yup. I realize this is penny ante stuff for the rest of the crowd but things like this are bothersome to us newbies.
I had the same experience.
