I sure cant my processor isnt that fast though, E6300 Slightly overclocked. 8800gt 512, 3gigs ram, and XP. I get framerates around 12 most everwere with low settings and all AI off except Airlines and GA set at 75%. But I do agree after seeing how FSX runs on some systems Nick I right about its not FSX its you system, I just wish I could afford better but alias all my other bills have to come first.
Specs
E6300, 3 gigs 800 Ram, 8800GT oc, 400gig Sata drive, Windows XP Pro 64 Bit..

Turn off traffic and you should be able to run it at high settings.

I thought of that but traffic is crucial to me for realism, thats why I am still using fs9 not as good but I can run 100%traffic with 175 airlines installed everything on high and framerates of 30 even at KJFK. I wont to run FSX but I am honest with myself.LOL
I am thinking of reinstalling now that SP are out in the order that Nick said in the sticky above and see if its better.

I used to think the same way until I realized how much better FSX was than my $10,000 FS9!
Sad to say, I gave up the convenience of sitting behind 8 heavies in line at JFK waiting to take off for a much better experience with FSX.
Just do it, you forget all about that once you leave the airport anyway.
How much of your sim time do you want to spend taxiing through an airport watching all the heavies drive around

Just for reference, Mattace64...   I've got a quad-core (Q6600) over-clocked by 25%... an 8800GTS512mb v-card...  4GB of 1066mghz RAM... and I still have to temper the FSX settings for smooth performance.

My rig is much the same but with a quad 6850.  I haven't clocked it and probably won't.  But it runs most scenery at Very Dense/Very Dense with every new scenery add-on.  The UTs, GEX, Cloud9, ASX etc just blow FS9 away.

Nick has been saying, it's the hardware, stupid.  And for me this rig proves it - before long as prices come down, this rig will look slow and you'll all be up there.

I run AI at 30-40% with this setup.  But if I am flying bush I'll alter the numbers to get more GA, or vice versa.

I've got a box of FS9 add-ons that I will happily give away to anyone who will come and get them!

LOL

Speaking of modern hardware... its time for you to get a monitor you old goat

wait.. sorry,   you old pig

You are tuned too... I know that   LOL    and the computer he has is not even 1/2 of what you are running but its refreshing to see someone on older hardware getting to use FSX reasonably. The service packs are also a blessing too.. without them the performance is a nighmare. The original release was quite a shock to most systems.

I will trim the image down.

"Most of them were 'dopes' at one time when it come to this hobby and it takes time to learn the ropes."

says Nick.   And he's right.

Was a dope, I'm still a dope.

But because of Nick and SimV a better informed dope.

And because of an addiction to simming, a foolish tendency to upgrade my hardware at the first sign of a better gizmo.

Makes me a poor dope.
