System specs? Some video cards have troubles loading long distance textures...

My Specs.
AMD Athlon XP, 2200 MHz (11 x 200) 3200+
Field      Value
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe  (5 PCI, 1 AGP Pro, 1 WiFi, 3 DDR DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN)
nVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400
1024 MB  (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
Radeon X1650 Series Secondary  (512 MB)

Ill b honest it may be my ram i am upgarding soon, but at my lowish settings fsx runs good, but that is the only issue i have.

From what I can see in this screenshots, it looks terrible :)
The ground textures are blurred in the distance, but also close to your plane, and the virtual cockpit textures are blurry too.

It would be good to tell us what are your actual settings in the "display" sections of the game. It looks like you should:
- put the "global texture resolution" slider to the max
- put the ground texture res to 2m or 4m (your rig is not powerfull enough for 1m textures)
- put the detail radius to the max

Also, do you have SP1 ou SP2 installed on your FSX ?

Try enabling Anistropic. My guess is FS-X has determined your CPU speed and isn't drawing texture detail. Really need a new rig tbh..

It's in the graphics window of the in-game FS Settings page.  Click the tab and then check the anisotropic box and the Anti Alias box.  But AA has a big effect on performance.

Also download the freeware nHancer if you have an nVidia card and make the changes in nHancer and on your video card.  Again do a search on this forum because NickN and others give specific instructions its use.  It stops the card from ignoring your settings and going to those that have been preset in the factory.

Put the tweaks into your fsx.cfg file that have already been suggested in other recent posts.  Then start at the left hand side of your Scenery Complexity and Autogen slider and work up from there until smoothness is effected.

Make sure you get the global texture setting as high as possible, that has a major effect on ground textures.

But first and last question, is your hardware up to it?
