FSX black props

Postby Dar Zeller » Fri Feb 15, 2008 1:33 pm

I have been loading some new FSX aircraft... Lancair, Spartan, and
Howard.  The spinning props, are black, and show strange reflections of
clouds and see through distorted scenery instead of the normal transparent spinning blades.  I have loaded these aircraft in FS9, and the spinning props work just fine.  Any clues what is happening here?  These
aircraft fly and sound super on FS9 and FSX ...I truly want to fly them on FSX with props that make sense.
                      Thanks for any input

To Ozzy ...... I have an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS.  One thing I
should mention tho... I recently added FSX Acceleration, could that have
something to do with it maybe?  I have not tried to add more props to
FSX since.        Dar Zeller

Yes, the 'black props' and 'cloud issues' are 'SP2 induced' problems.
SP2 was included with Acceleration.

There are prop textures available to 'fix' the black, opaque props
but nothing but a re-compiling of the original aircraft model by the
designer will fix the cloud transparency issue.

Those aircraft are FS9 models, as opposed to FSX models and SP2
PORKED the backwards compatibility with FS9 aircraft in many areas.

I still have many FS9 aircraft in my FSX-SP2 installation but I have
had to do alot of tweaking to be able to use them after SP2.

 Yo Paul...
Unfortunately I thought that it was not something easily fixed.
I will fly these aircraft in FS9 and wait for an FX version and not a conversion before I try to load them again.  Oh yeah, the other one
was the Beech G-18, I think..another great aircraft that flies quite well on FS9.  I guess I will just delete them from FX now.

Dar Zeller, look at the link UU posted. The thread shows the problem, and talks about semi-fixing it.
