Aircraft surge when starting . . .

When I start a new flight, whether my first flight after opening FSX or any subsequent flight thereafter, my aircraft surges forward momentarily and the engines sound as if they are spooling down (instead of starting at idle).  This is most significantly a problem with airliners, but occurs with all aircraft.  If I am starting out at a gate or otherwise near a building, I think you could see how even small surges forward could be a real problem.

Any ideas of what causes this and how it can be corrected?

Ensure the throttles are all the way back, and the parking brake is set

There is a cold cockpit file under the misc download section if I am not mistaken.

When you install that file you will start with a cold cockpit. Helps alot. Then you get to set brakes, idle throttles ect before you fire the bird up.

Just so you all know, I always start with my throttles set to idle.  Thus my confusion at the surge.

I believe he is referring to how the turbine engines surge after ignition in FS.  In real life the engines just come up to idle, not surge to 60%.

I think he means when starting a flight when the engines are already running. It's happened to me, too. I just make a point to always shut down completely... so that any saved flight is always  cold and dark.

And, yes, my problem is when I load into the flight I get a surge, though I will have to get back to you if I have the same issue from a cold start (haven't noticed that problem just yet).

When you say "delete last saved flight", er, what exactly do you mean?  The last flight listed in my saved flights directory?  The last flight in my log book?  I mean, there aren't a whole lot of options to go with here, but neither of those seem like a logical choice to me.  Something I am missing?

EDIT:
I always taxi to the gates and shut the aircraft completely down at the end of my flights.  Just so you know.
