Is it recommended that I install SP1 and SP2? I don't do much multi-playing so what is/are the advantages of installing SP1 and SP2? Also what is the purpose of installing Acceleration?

The Service Packs fix some bugs and performance issues. Acceleration has more missions, and a few additional aircraft.

You can download SP2 without getting Acceleration

If I already have SP1 and SP2, do I have to uninstall them if I decide to buy and install Acceleration? Also, where is the best price to buy acceleration?

Acceleration should install over SP1/SP2. As for the price, the retail price is about $30 here in the US, and can be found almost anyplace that sells pc games, like walmart, bestbuy, circuit city, ect, ect...

Be aware, however, that after installing SP2 or Acceleration, you might (will) have problems with both freeware and payware add-ons compatibility. Products such as GEX, FEX, etc. will work just fine, but the aircraft might have propeller, texture, and cockpit/gauge problems. However, in some cases, SP2/Acceleration does increase performance, so go ahead and test it out first, see if you like it, and if not, the uninstall button is right there.

I agree SP1 is a must.  It is a no-brainer.  An absolute must install. Performance is lifted significantly.

On the other hand as Nick and others have said ad nauseum, old and low spec hardware still means slow and low performance.

SP2 is also a performance boost.  So go for it.

Acceleration is your choice, but at the price it gives you some new goodies that you will enjoy.

It does stuff up some old add-ons, but frankly most of us have too many aircraft, most of which we hardly fly.

The DX10 preview though, if you have a suitable video card and Vista is marginal at best.  A big disappointment.
