Ok here's a couple more screenshots, this time in 1920x1080, AA and AF. Over New York (have to reduce autogen scenery it's a fps killer!)

I can run FSX on all Ultra High Settings, with 1280 x 1020 resolution, anisotripic filtering, Anti-Alaising. I've got 2 Gigs of RAM, a dual core AMD 64 Athlon X2 3800+ (2.40 GHz) processor, a 150 gig hard drive, 2gigs of memory, and an ATI Radeon X1650 video card.  Little choppy in cities, but not un bearable.

Two gigs of RAM, 2.2 CPU, over 150G of hard drive, and NVIDEA Gforce 7600 GS. My FSX Resolution 1024x768x32. What's AA and Antiristopic? and what else would you need to know? Thanks.

I have:
Alienware Aurora 7500
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (2.2Ghz)
2GB of DDR2 RAM
74GB WD Raptor 10KRPM drive
nvidia 8800 GTS 640MB

and I still got 15-25 FPS in certain areas, with some stuff turned down to medium or less.    FS X is a very serious hardware hog, in my opinion.  I'm planning on getting a new system based off of the new Intel quad cores that just came out this month (QX9650), but I'm going to wait a few months for any manufacturing problems to be sorted out, and for the price to drop as the newer models start coming out; they're going for $1100 right now.  :o

I'm also going with an ATI card set up (2 of them using crossfire) rather than nVidia.  I upgraded the 7800 GTX that came with the alienware to my current 8800 GTS and didn't see that much of an improvement, which sucks considering I spent $550 on the card.

sbq, the bottleneck is the CPU, if possible overclock. Even so a 8800GTS on a 4200x2 isn't using the full potential of the card. I have a 4400x2 and wouldn't bother replacing the GPU, it'll be a new base unit upgrade (mobo/cpu/memory/GPU)

Also I'm not sure if FS-X takes advantage of dual core, perhaps a 3ghz 8500 will result in better performance than a QX9650?

If I remember right, FSX was first developed back when AMD and Intel were in the Ghz race, and when they switched to the multicore architecture processors, ACES was already deep in the development phase. Instead of redoing the project and causing a big delay, they went on with it.

They added SP1 which has multicore support, but I don't think it uses it to its full potential, is that right?

I could be wrong about the whole thing, actually  :P

specs (uggh): AMD Turion 64X2 TL-60 (2.00 ghz) 2GB DDRII, ATI Radeon Xpress X1150
