The good one:
If I remember correct Alrot had a similar issue and somebody found a fix.

The bad:
I can't find the post ::)

Yes, various aircraft designed for FS9 have the same prop problem with FSX SP1 and it's widely known problem.

There are

You need to download a program called DXTBmp and to inverse the alpha map  ;)

I am sure this is correct but this method is not so easy to the non computer minded person and probably do not have a clue as to what you are talking about. Having never messed around with bitmap editors this is not as simple as you make it out to be.
some might need a little more information. 8-)

Then I sugest you pop on over to:

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/index.php?

And go to the FSX forum. There were a couple of threads recently that addressed this
"SP2 induced" problem for that particular aircraft as well as others.

I believe there were links to some replacement prop textures in one of the
threads. A simple matter of copying a new prop texture into each "texture"
folder....

That said, even many replacement prop textures, although fixing the SP2 inducded
opaque pros will still show SP2 induced problems where the prop disc will become
totally transparent ( invisable ) when viewed with clouds and some scenery objects
behind the disc. I THINK they look OK from within the VC. Just about every FS9
aircraft imported into FSX will exhibit SP2 induced problems that were NOT present
in FSX RTM or SP1. SP2 PORKED most FS9 aircraft :(

Yes,

It isn't too easy for me :-[
Downloaded DXTbmp and inverted a Alpha channel which wasn't present in orginal.
In different words:
The prop is much worse than before ;D
No Reason to push the Howard into the Nirvana, eh?

I guess I need a little bit more help.

If I remember right you have to invert it and give the prop 40 40 40 color. Do you have photoshop or something? If not just send me the texture, I'll try to fix it.

Aye,

first I have to thank you for showing me the way!
Many thanks to Werd for the friendly offer to do the work for me. But I think there are many props ( ha, ha ) out there which needed to be fixed so it's better I understand what is going on.
There are some old farts here giving always a helpful hand

Sure it can. You have two possibilities:
-use FS9
-contact Microsoft and ask them to add 10 lines in the code  :)

I finally figured out how to make the propellors for the Beech look somewhat normal, besides the issues with the clouds. I used DXTBmp to open up the 'spinpropb18.bmp' file, created an Alpha Channel template, exported it to a bmp file, used Photoshop to invert the colors, imported back into DXTBmp as an alpha channel, and saved the file as an extended 32 bit 888-8.

What makes some props disappear with clouds, and some not? Is it a model issue, or a texture issue?

Would someone consider sharing the prop fix(corerected prop texture) for the Howard 500 ? I'm almost positive I could not get through the listed programs to change alpha etc. I sincerely appreciate the work it took if someone considers this .  (SP2)

Rich :-?
