Problem with landing lights on other planes?

Postby Invertalon » Thu Jan 10, 2008 7:41 pm

And mine as well, it seems as if the landing lights are not on the planes but somehow are mis-aligned lately. I don't know what could of done this, but wondering if there is a fix out there? The landing lights and stuff show up usually to the left of the aircraft and are not on the plane, happens with every plane.

Any hope or am I doomed to a re-install? ugh

Thanks!

I have this problem as well now, and I just did a clean reinstall of FSX and Acceleration/SP2. I also installed Nick's sun fix, but I don't know whether that is the problem or not.

Anyone know how to fix this?

There were a few of us who discovered most aircraft lights completely disappeared while while running FSX\SP2\DX10. I switched to DX9 mode and the lights work fine

No my sunfix is not causing lights to be out of place  ;D

A picture is worth a 1000 words and in this case if you post an image of what you are talking about i could probably tell you what you are seeing.

if this is landing lights being viewed from the ground or tower position and you are seeing them skewed, its a bug in FSX which SP2 has made more obvious because it cause the lights to display brighter, but that issue has been there since the day FSX came out.

I doubted your fix would do that. But here are some pics anyways. So is there a fix or am I doomed to terrible looking lights?

[color=#000000]There is ONE and only one file that provides landing and taxi light ground splashes in FSX:

fx_landing.fx

It uses the fx_2.bmp file located in the ../Effects/texture folder

If you open the file in notepad.exe you will note that there are three Emitters.n defined.

Each of those has a corresponding section of ParticleAttributes.n

The starting and ending colors are listed here as RGBA quadruplets:

Color Start=55, 52, 50, 100
Color End=55, 52, 50, 0

The above correspond to a sort of "washed out gray" illumination.

To increase the lighting to full brightness, simply edit the RGB values to a max of 255 each.

For example, I've increased mine to:

Color Start=155, 152, 150, 100
Color End=155, 152, 150, 0

which is about 150% brighter...

[center]only seen from tower view. Spot view shows normal and the lights after SP2/Accel are magnified (brighter and zoom makes them HUGE) by quite a bit do I would be careful changing the files

Come to think of it, I never did check to see if this happens with the ATi card.

This question refers to FSX Delux Sp1 ( cause Sp2 is being a real pain in the gonads for me to get running, but that's a diferent story :'( ) . Can any one tell me and is anyone not seeing landing\taxi lights on AI aircraft, default and add-on? and is there a fix? Also not to get off the subject (but this has to do with lights), is there a way to get the green\white airfield becone to work like it did in FS2002,04? You use to be able to see it at about 15 miles out, now I don't see it untill i'm about 7 miles out and it's not even steady( it comes and go's) which is a real pain in low vis at  night. And Nick your sun fix is fantastic, I love it! ;D
