Electra download and a little more

Postby FLYING_TRUCKER » Mon Dec 31, 2007 4:31 pm

Good afternoon all... :)

Two Questions

(1)  I read another members post that when he bought a new computer he got a copy of Vista to replace Windows XP and then he purchased an actual copy of Vista.
I wonder if that is half the problem I am having with Vista and FS X?  The computer store that built this computer said that was ridiculous and the copy I have is fine but now I am wondering.  I bet this is not a full copy of Vista Microsoft sent me to replace my Windows XP.
If a full copy of Vista is the problem then I shall purchase it, however I shall send a letter off to Microsoft explaining that I think in the future they need to supply an actual full copy of Vista to replace their Windows XP (or whatever) as the aggravation I am going through with their programs and NIVIDIA is uncalled-for and may be against the law in some respects.

(2) I downloaded the Electra from the FS X website here and the first time the aircraft showed up with a very good looking cockpit but no livery, the aircraft was a shell.
I then deleted that folder and redownloaded the program, it shows up in Computer, Program Files, Microsoft Games, FS X and Simobjects.  But it does not show up when I go to change aircraft in the actual flight sim program.  I have tried this several times now.
Oh and yes all the dam lights worked on it, funny they don't on anything else.

Oh I just know Nick is going to see this post and he will:
(a) run in circles and scream and shout
then
(b) bang his head against a wall and yell to the computer gods..."not him again!"

Sorry Nick...it is me... ;D

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Well Doug. I'm not Nick but let me take a shot - #1 - there are many different flavors of Vista - if you have the same version )ie Home Premium) in the Xp upgrade or the OEM or the full install - the product is the same. Deleting the XP upgrade and installing the same full install version is a waste of time and money. However, either XP or Vista sometimes work better from a clean install rather than an upgrade but it has nothing to do with versions.

Re the Electra - sounds like you have the DX10 preview mode enabled in Vista - any a/c that doesn't completely conform to the DX10 specs will show as you describe. Textures wll be missing or panels or gauges, etc. Turn OFF the DX10 preview and see if it improves.

Good luck,

Vic ( rhymes with nick)  :)
