Where do i get commercial planes?

Postby Wishing4cobra » Sun Dec 30, 2007 1:21 am

Hi guys, i was wondering how i get commercial airlines in the FSX game.

I dled the the additional airlines from here
http://www.simviation.com/fsxmisc6.htm

But when i open the game it doesnt show any of those planes, it only have their call signs such as delta and such.  But the planes are still the same Orbit and Pacifica and stuff.

How do i get the commercial planes to show up?

and HOW DO I INSTALL IT?

Also any tutorials on how to make a good landing, i always seem to cant find the runway or the plane is always facing the wrong side of the runway.

Thanks

Welcome to SimViation Cobra. ;) Enjoy your stay here, you will find that you can usually get help for anything you need. :)

Have you read the readme? That should show you how exactly to install it. But if you want real world airlines, then go to the civil jets section. :) What you downloaded, modifies FSX to contain real world airline callsigns (when you select your plane, click details, and select its callsign from there).

And for your second question, file an IFR flight plan and follow the ATC's directions to the airport, or, press SHIFT+3 (most aircraft have this panel set as) for GPS, find your destination airport, and the runway you want (it shows up as a green "feather").

Happy flying! :)

Thanks for the reply,

So under civil jets does that mean i have to download each texture or is there a package for all of them?

As of yet, I know of no varied airline texture package for the default aircraft. ;) In the civil jets area though, be careful, because there are many different files that are easy to mix up. In different classes -

1. Whole new airplane.

2. Repaint for default plane - nothing else usually required.

3. Repaint for third party aircraft that may require more than one file.

Read the description carefully, and decide which is which. It will specify what plane it is for, and in the case that it is for a third party plane, will link to that plane. :) ;)

Happy flying!  ;)

Ok sounds good.

Are there any other websites to download more variety airlines?

Yes, although SimV probably wouldn't want me to spread news about them. Two to stay away from for sure though, FS Planet, and Fly Away Simulations (they charge you to register and download aircraft).

And there are several AI aircraft collections available, look into Flight 1, Simflight, Just Flight etc etc.  These have the advantage of completely replacing the default AI aircraft with carry exciting names, like Orbit and World!!!

Purists in Simviation like to do it plane by plane.

But the lazy like me just buy and install one of the well known commercial offerings - as some are FS9 re-runs they are a bit crude, but at least the defaults have gone and the fps is very much better.

And you get a great range of real world airlines and liveries in easy packages.

I would suggest practicing in something smaller untill you get the hang of it, and working up from there... ;)

Man i have to actually buy the package? Are there any free ones out there? As i do not want to pay $40 for just some planes.

Download the installer, then download all the packages you'd like. Save them all in one folder (I recommend you make a seperate folder for anything from World of AI).

Open the installer, select which simulator (X or 9) and then select which airline packages to install (You can do multiple at the same time) so just select all of them and install.

BTW, do not set the AI slider in FSX to 100% because you will see some crazy things going on with the AI  ;D
