Hi Str1ker,

I've been watching your progress with great interest because I was thrilled with what Ingvarr's Water20.fxh file did for the appearance of FSX. I must add however that I am also concerned about the Acceleration/SP2 compatability issue as mentioned by NickN. As I understand it, your program will make modifications to Ingvarr's original Water20.fxh file (If I am wrong about this point, please disregard). It seems that alot of people, myself included, are reporting that this file will not work with SP2. I'm sure that you are aware of this thread http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=121&topic_id=419193&mesg_id=419193&page=6 but if not, take a look from about response 46 down.
I even tried using the Water20.fxh file with a fresh installation of FSX plus SP2, and had the same problems mentioned in that thread. I'm not so sure that it is simply an issue with older video cards and drivers because I am using a relatively new Radeon X1950 Pro with 7.10 drivers under XP 32bit.
Anyway, good luck with your program, and I will be thrilled if it does turn out to work with SP2. I've really missed Ingvarr's water shader effects since installing Acceleration.

Sorry if somebody allready awnsered this. In a bit of a hurry and haven't read all the posts that followed.
I can say however, that the water tweak won't work with DX10.

Okay, I've edited Ingvarr's file, and it is now going to be tested by a friend of NickN.

Crossed fingers till then.  I think it should work, however, I won't add support for it in the first version, only the second version, once I get more info on SP2 and Acceleration.

Okay then, well I guess I'll just have to settle for generic reflection modding.  However, I'll be able to add many more changeable options in the second version, regarding wave height (bump), general reflection amount, general specular amount, as well as other things I have yet to work out.

Still, the project won't die because Ingvarr's file doesn't work for SP2.  We don't really need Ingvarr's file too much.

Well, Ingvarr's file will still be used for the lowly SP1 or lower users like me.

I just got home... that was a loooooong day which spanned a good chunk of the globe

I am exhausted and will look into it more as I get time.

Send me test files if you like.

As soon as my lightfix is completed I will be starting on the ENVs. SP2 totally trashed weeks of light dev work so I had to start over. Since I ran out of free time 3 months ago it has been slow completing.

Kinda reminds me of writing a word document, then closing without saving, and having to write 2 pages all over again (only advantage is the fact that the second I wasn't as tired, so not as many grammer and spelling mistakes).

Except SP2 trashing the work is on a much bigger annoying scale...

Anyway, thanks for the offer Nick.  I might have another go at modding teh fxh file, but for now, I'll just work on the help file, and the help file opening, which seems to return an error of all things...

Then, a final test, and then the release.  After that, I'll begin work on the next version, to support general reflection, SP2, and other values... ;)

Okay, another quick update.

Right now, there is an error opening the help file, and the help file is not finallized.

I'm doing an easier, well, harder, well, I dunno, possibly longer method of doing a help file, by actually having the installer put html files onto the disk, and have an inbuilt HTML reader in the program read the files.  This system should have no problems once implemented.

Anyway, OS support is everything except Vista 64-bit, and version support is everything but SP2 (Acceleration).

I still promise, that the next version I make will support Vista 64-bit, and Service Pack 2.  (See, I even used promise, so now I can't go back on my word without all of you guys thinking I'm an @$$h013)...
