how to fly F-18 ???

Postby BuzzDatAzz » Thu Dec 13, 2007 4:35 pm

I cannot figure out how to set autopilot and heading, altitude, airspeed, or anything in the F-18, I know it should be easier than the big jets but no joy! Can someone tell me where I can find "Flying the FSX F-18 for dummies" manual? Thanks a lot! ;)

Thanks for the help, but that is not what I meant. I can manually fly the F-18, I am talking about using auto-pilot. Like when you are flying a big jet and you set the heading and the altitutde, and IAS. Then you hit autopilot and you can sit back relax and enjoy your flight! I cannot figure out how to properly activate these systems with the F-18. I hope you can still help me with this. Thanks again!!!

I knew what you meant, I just have no idea how to use the autopilot in the F/A-18. ;)

No need for it in my opinion, where's the fun in pushing a button and sitting back to watch a multi-million dollar fun machine fly itself? ;)

It's not any less exciting to me to let the plane fly itself, it's just that it is annoying when your IFR plan gets cancelled because you don't follow the instructions from ATC. I am not good at navigating my planes manually, so I NEED auto-pilot for now. I like having a destination, I think I just enjoy the thrill of landing the plane, I feel like "yeah, I did it"!!! You know? I will continue to look for instructions on how to use the navigation systems on the F-18. Thanks for your help though!  ;)

Pull back=up
Push forward=down
Push left=roll left
Push right=roll right

Practice those and you will be the auto-pilot

OK guys, its up to you but I always prefer to let people make their own choices.  I had to go some to track this down, it was only whilst sifting through the first 20 pages of Simviation I realised the details were in another forum, knew I`d seen them somewhere  ;)

This should sort you out mate, have fun and enjoy......  Have a look at the EH101 part also, now that is useful and lots of fun.  You can look at the helicopter from the outside and front of the cockpit as it rises to hover at 20`.
