FSX Autogen scenery pop up

Is there a tweak to minimize scenery popping up one or two miles in front of the aircraft ?

I understand this problem was the result of an unavoidable compromise to get SP1 performance

I think there is an box you can check for scenery at far distances...I'm trying to remember...never mind, it's not there. It's in FS2004.

When you install SP2 that issue is minimized. They batch call autogen so the popping is not noticed anywhere near as much but it is still there
