Interested in painting my own plane....

I used to do some custom paint jobs for the racing sims I play (like GTR2 and GTL) and I wouldn't mind trying to do a custom paint scheme for the different aircraft I fly.  

Is there any place out there that has templates for doing custom paints and also has directions on how you get those paint schemes onto one of the planes in the game?  I've seen lots of places to download repaints of the stock planes, but have not run across any place that helps you do one of your own.
