Unfixable unuseable stuffed up sound problem

Postby macca22au » Sat Dec 01, 2007 11:25 pm

I am uncertain as to whether this problem began before or after I installed Acceleration.

The sound in FSX is corrupted, hashed up, messed up.

No matter what I do I can not clear it.

I have rolled back to a Restore point before Acceleration.  I have completey uninstalled FSX, including the folder.  Now I find that through the control panel the game appears to uninstall, but when I go to reinstall the screen gives me only a repair or remove option.

I Remove, and guess what it happens again.  I have used driver cleaner to remove the sound driver, and reinstall.

Still no difference.  On some of the rollbacks, even the Microsoft startup tune is corrupted.

Yet I can play a music file without a problem.

Stumped frustrated flustered and stuffed.

Don' ask me if you have problems with software. :D

But what I can say is the jacks, plugs - the hole connectors in lower/standard audio hardware are the cheapest you can get even thoug it's gold plated.
Maybe you should think in that direction.

Have you tried the latest driver available? If yes then try a few versions back. If that doesn't do it, maybe your sound card has bit the dust?

macca22au, I am sorry I just saw this post

First of all, I never posted to use a driver cleaner to clean sound drivers, only the video drivers (and motherboard drivers IF you intend to reinstall or upgrade them ONLY) Assuming the problem was there before you ran any cleaners, did you check the new FSX Accleration interface for the following settings?

These are new with SP2:

NOTE: The names shown below are from my sound card... yours will not be the same

If you have a 5.1 sound card or 5.1 surround onboard sound system you must make sure Windows is set for that sound format (5.1 surround) and FSX is set to use the sound device in the dropdowns.

Short of that, there may be a problem with the drivers... motherboard or sound.
