Lights

Postby FLYING_TRUCKER » Mon Dec 03, 2007 8:21 pm

Good evening all... :)

Got a glitch somewhere.

I am running a new computer, Vista, Flight Simulator X and Acceleration.

When I first started off I had navigation lights and rotating beacon.
Now I can't get them to work, they show a dull colour when you look at the aircraft but no actual lights.

When I check off the box "Preview Direct X" I am not sure if I actually see a big difference.
I have all sliders set to full as there should be no problem for this machine to handle that, at least that is what I was told.

Everything else seems just fine so far.

Any help would be most appreciated.

I might be in left field here but Acceleration has been causing all kinds of problems. Have you noticed all of the post about it. It makes me glad that I did not get it. Try uninstalling Acceleration and see if the problems go away. If so you will have to figure out what Acceleration is doing to cause the problem. I wish you luck. 8-)

Thanks Gary but I do know they were working prior to the installation of Acceleration and am pretty sure when I first started the computer up for a programed flight they were working.

I am sure there must be a quick fix somewhere.

Thanks... :)

Try deleting your fsx.CFG file (located in your main drive>Documents and Settings>Username>Application Data>Microsoft>FSX). You need to ensure that "Show Hidden Folders" is enabled in folder options withing Control Panel as the Application Data folder is hidden. You would also lose any settings made to FSX but resetting everything is a small price to pay for getting it working again.

I'm pretty sure this is a Vista / nVidia / Acceleration  issue.. having to do with DX10... and I'm thinking the solution is in nVidia's court in the form of a driver update ...  I don't think there's anything for the end-user to do to fix it, short of going back to XP..

I could be wrong, of course..  There are just too many new variables   ::)

Goodmorning all... :)
I have gone so far as enabled the "Show Hidden Folders" in the Control Panel.

I have not deleted the "fsx.cfg file" as of yet as I am running Vista and am waiting to find out exactly what I am doing.
I am not an electronic gizmo person, if the thing doesn't work out comes the rubber mallet from the tool crib again.  ;D  I shall do what Brett suggests and wait a bit.

An Idea, Doug do you still have your Xp Copy?, well grab your VISTA one and throw it into a deep lake with a heavy stone well tie, and reinstall Xp back.. ::)

Good afternoon all... :)

Time will tell I guess when the college boys all get together to make a system that works and is compatible with everything else.  I guess there is money to be made by doing it piece meal (A little bit at a time).
Too bad we can't sue their asses off for aggrevation or can we?  >:(
