D-C-10 Haywire on AP.

I'm hopeing some of you Veteran Sim'ers can help me with this one, I have a D-C-10 package that is great for the most part; but when I put the thing on A.P., I loose all control..It nosses up and I can't regain control. It seems to happen around 15 to 18,000 foot every time. Anyone seen this one before?....Ok now all my aircraft are doing it..any ideas??

Only to some sounds. I found the problem only happens w/ add-on aircraft.

Ok check out what the addon aircraft uses for a panel. One bad thing about a lot of freeware addons is alot of them do not include a Panel or any gauges they will use a panel from a default aircraft and this can present problems from time to time. I suggest you open the panel folders on any aircraft that you have this problem with and check to see if it is being alised to another aircraft. If it is make sure it is at least in the same class as the addon aircraft. Inother words do not use a panel from a two engine aircraft for a plane that either has more or less engines on it. I would suggest you try to find a panel for each aircraft and see if the problems go away. Although I have never heard of this problem before but I allways check out each aircraft I down load and make sure it has its own panel and gauges otherwise I will not use it. 8-)

That makes sence, didn't think of that..I'll check it out. thanks. Can you recomend a good 3 eng panel for the D-C-10? cant seem to find one for FSX.

Are you climbing thru those altitudes?

What you describe sounds like the ap can't maintain  the vs you have set. This will cause the ac to nose up and eventually stall.

Because of thinner air you can't climb at the same rate at higher altitudes that you use lower altitudes.  Keep an eye on your gauges. If your air speed/vert. speed begin to drop and/or your pitch angle increases, decrease your vert. speed setting in order to maintain your target air speed. (Check the ac's Ref sheet if available for: VY-speed for best rate of climb.)
