How do you get all the FS9 Panel to work in FSX?

Postby I love BOEING » Wed Nov 28, 2007 9:47 am

Hey,

I'm Junior in this forum but I had a virtual flight over 30hours.

I am trying out new aircraft we the same panel in reality, means, A Boeing 707 aircraft, A Boeing 707 panel working in FSX.

I had the aircraft in my computer but it was FS2004 and the Panel has Gauges which,

1. When I started a flight, it said:

"This gauges is FS98 or older".
2. RUN or Don't RUN (W Vista)
3. Panel exist, No instrument.
I am really stuck and need someone to help.

Mostly aircraft i needed are in FS2004, eg. Boeing 707.

And, the SIMviation FSX, I cannot find aircraft like Boeing 707, even there is, the panel is still BOEING 747 panel which does not exist on a real Boeing 707.

Please help and all information will be read.

Benjamin.

Welcome to Simviation.

The problem is linked to the gauges files that are used by your panel. They are no more compatible with FSX.
The only way to solve the problem is to edit your panel.cfg of that plane in order to force it to use other, compatible gauges.

Did you ever have a look into a panel.cfg file before (with notepad) ?

Hey,

Thanks for the greeting,

How do I edit as I am not that good in computers.

I had look before and there were lots of words, line and numbers.

If possible, you can teach me how to edit.

Have you tried the Boeing 707s posted at HJG? http://www.simviation.com/hjg/downloads.htm

Panels here. http://www.simviation.com/hjg/panels/boeing.htm

They should be FSX compatible.

The texts inside that file are not that attractive, but if you look closely, you will notice that they are not that complex either.

Basically, you have first a list of panel parts, and then a section for each part of the panel.
In this section (marked by [Window.01] for 2D panels and [VCockpit.01] for virtual cockpit or something like that) you'll find a list of gauges, followed by numbers which defines the position, coordinates et size.

What you can do is to replace the name of a gauge by another one that you know it works.
For example, for a Boeing, let's say your altimeter does not work. Look into the panel.cfg of the default FSX Boeing 737 or 747, and look at the name of the altimeter gauge there (something like '737!altimeter' or '737.altimeter' I don't remember exactely). Copy the name (not the numbers!) and paste it in the panel.cfg of your boeing replacing the old name. If you are lucky enough, your old boeing will now work with a new altimeter.... if you are lucky :P

Of course, this is a long an quite painfull process...

 BTW, Thanks for the help,

But do SIMviation have

2. McDonnell DC10 PANEL
3. McDonnell MD11 PANEL
4. Airbus A340 PANEL
5. Airbus A380 PANEL

Thanks for the help.

In reply to Hanger,

The HJG panel and aircraft you gave me seems to not work.

I followed all the instruction and when I want to use the aircraft and I could not find.

Can you help me make the aircraft and panel together like a package.

Thanks.

In reply to Hanger and Simciation crew,

I had follow the instruction in HJG forum and the result is still not working.

I am using Windows Vista.

To the SIMVIATION crew,

Please make one Boeing 707 with 707 Panel suitable for Windows XP and Vista.

And now...

Boeing 727 PANEL required for WINDOWS VISTA,
MD DC 10 PANEL FOR WINDOWS VISTA,
MD 11 PANEL.

Thanks,

In reply to Hanger and Simciation crew,

I am using Windows Vista.

All I can say is that I tried one of the many Boeing 707 panels posted at HJG & it works fine in the FSX Demo on WinXP on my system. The gauges appear to be fully compatible & don't give the FS98 error message. The Boeing 707 aircraft posted on the same site also work perfectly & include FSX flight dynamics.

I realise that this does not necessarily mean that the panels or aircraft will work in your version of FSX on Vista but are you sure you installed it correctly? There are so many possible variables with FSX now which makes it difficult to give specific advice or check these things out.

To the SIMVIATION crew,

Please make one Boeing 707 with 707 Panel suitable for Windows XP and Vista.

I'm afraid it doesn't work like that. Simviation has no crew of freeware developers waiting to create addons to order. It's possible that the chaps at HJG will do something in the future when they get to grips with FSX themselves.

Hey Hanger,

I did the step and I tried 3 times but it simply can't.

I could not find the aircraft and does the windows version affect this add on?

The HJG aircraft are a little difficult to install, especially if you're not used to editing Aircraft.cfg. We can address that later.

I assume you already have a Boeing 707 working in FSX. Did you try installing one of the HJG panels to that? Note that the gauges are in a separate package posted at the top of the page.

Hanger,

Yes I did but it won't work.

BTW, Could you make one add on for me in case I had made a error?

I guess I am not good at doing add on so if you could make me one it will be good.

E-mail the file if possible or add to Simviation.

My E-mail is  and my MSN is the same.

Cheers,
Benjamin

I'll do what I can but I can't install it for you. It would be better if you can figure this out yourself. I can walk you through it here or we can do this via e-mail if you prefer. My address is in my Profile.

I can't work on MSN. E-mail gives me time to think. My address is in my Profile.
