non that this matters but...

Has anyone noticed how picky the check rides are in FSX?  :o

Passed the private ok

but the commercial and the instrument are way too picky.

for example, in the commercial ride, in the baron she said that

1. "You did not set 22" manifold pressure"

2. "You did not set 2300 RPM"

3. "You failed to maintain 170 knots in the cruise"

4. "You didnt maintain full power on takeoff"

but here i will plead my case  ;D

1. I did set 22" manifold pressure once i leveled off at 5,500 feet and trimmed for level flight

2. I set 2310 RPM according to the pop-up box when i scrolled my mouse over the tachs... the next lowest setting using CTRL + F2 was something like 2280 RPM so i found it quite impossible to set exactly 2300 RPM

3. With 22" MP and 2300 RPM i was unable to accelerate past 159 knots (yes flaps and gear were up)

4. i cant explain this one... perhaps the power bumped down for a second while i was starting my takeoff roll and the computer counted that???

anyhow, not 5 minutes into the check ride and "4 tolerances exceeded"

Yikes  :-?

I suppose with constant practice and considerable patience you could pass one of these, but has anyone else noticed how difficult and picky these check rides are?

That's what I've found in the sim checkrides... You end up trying to get good at the checkride, itself; rather than getting better at practical skills. I suppose they are good at disciplining a handful of tasks.. but they don't really test your piloting ability.

FSX allows for shared cockpits, hence REAL checkrides... with a real person..

We should be perfecting that, soon..

Agree with you, and that's why I don't fly them.
Much easier to find the Certificate textures and add your name with paintshop, lol.  ;)  At least you could with FS9. Don't know if you still can with FX10.
Yes, I know it's cheating, but if you feel you did the proper job, and FS is cheating you, why worry? It's not like your going to be putting it on your resume'.... ;D
