Maybe this is FSX-Acceleration (SP2) and this is an add-on plane made by Makemdl9 and this are the issues I've reading these days,  OR this is a very OLD add-on plane (FS2002) ,that's why of the landing gear ...

I just learned how to post screenshots this morning. I figured some people might like this. Here's a little better shot...

Well, for textures, it appears that you installed the textures for the wrong model... :P :-/

Anyone can do that.  Just park the airplane in a bad neighborhood ;)

Alright, sorry to keep you guys waiting. I had all of my FS9 hanger aircraft files successfully modified to my liking with this exact set up. I found that it is neat and orderly, and I can later change panels or whatever with the utmost of ease. This is the original aircraft file for the FSX C172 "texture.1" (AKA - White w Blue & Gold Stripes). This:

[fltsim.0]
title=Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1
sim=Cessna172SP
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=1
kb_checklists=Cessna172SP_check
kb_reference=Cessna172SP_ref
atc_id=G-BAFM
ui_manufacturer="Cessna"
ui_type="C172SP Skyhawk"
ui_variation=" Blue, Gold"
ui_typerole="Single Engine Prop"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"
description="A stable and trustworthy plane, most pilots have logged at least a few hours in a Cessna 172, since it's the most widely available aircraft in the rental fleet, and is used by most flight schools. Since the first prototype was completed in 1955, more than 35,000 C172s have been produced, making it the world's most popular single-engine plane.

My brain isn't working well today... My first instinct is that there are many texture files in the "first" texture folder, that are used by ALL the variations... so if something gets lost in the translation, and an animated part's texture isn't rendered properly,, it get's affected like that.

If you look, you'll see that all the messed up parts are animated parts.. the others are fine.

Here's another example.

Original:

[fltsim.2]
title=Piper Cub Paint2
sim=Piper_J3Cub
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=2
kb_checklists=Piper_J3Cub_check
kb_reference=Piper_J3Cub_ref
atc_id=N9825K
atc_id_color=
ui_manufacturer="Piper"
ui_type="J-3 Cub"
ui_variation="Red, White"
ui_typerole="Single Engine Prop"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"
description="The simple, inexpensive Piper J-3 Cub lifted a generation of pilots into the skies for the first time. Introduced in 1938, the Piper Cub made learning to fly accessible to many more people. One estimate states that 75 percent of American aviators in World War II learned to fly in the Cub. Flying low and slow with its doors open, the Piper Cub revives the roots of aviation."

Image

Modified:

[fltsim.2]
title=Piper Cub Red & White
sim=Piper_J3Cub
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=Red & White
atc_id=N9825K
atc_parking_type=Ramp
ui_manufacturer=Piper
ui_type=J-3 Cub
ui_variation=Red & White
ui_typerole=Single Engine Prop
ui_createdby=Microsoft Corporation

In this example, I relabeled the three original Cubs, plus the Cactus Jack (SimV FSX texture) as demonstrated above, the Yellow w Black Stripe still works fine, but the rest are messed up...

[fltsim.0]

Don`t allow two items with the same fltsim.0 number, they must always increment by one.

title=Cessna Skyhawk 172 SP White w Blue & Gold Stripes

The title above may cause problems

sim=Cessna172SP
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=White w Blue & Gold Stripes

The texture would definately cause problems.  Not often you see a texture file named as follows....
texture.White w Blue & Gold Stripes
more likely this.....
texture.new (which goes with texture=new, they usually use underscores or whatever in the syntax not spaces)

atc_id=N704KT
atc_parking_type=Ramp
ui_manufacturer=Cessna
ui_type=172 SP Skyhawk
ui_variation=White w Blue & Gold Stripes
ui_typerole=Single Engine Prop
ui_createdby=Microsoft Corporation

Some of the above needs to be in quotes and their is no description.  Because of these faults this plane would be more likely to end up in the other category on the load menu and tend to overwrite another set of details on a plane.  So you would have more chance of a thumbnail appearing with say a helicopter or something on, but the description for this plane.  They have to closely follow the syntax of the originals to work properly.

Thats for starters......

Brett :  Hmmm... yeah, you're right... prop, elevator, wheels, flaps, door... Something else I noticed in the last examples is that the messed up versions are also transparent. Well, don't rack your brains over this. It took me ten years to figure out how post a screenshot. LOL. Thanx for info.

Reider:  I think I get what your saying. I guess the doubt comes because it worked in FS9 - yesterday's news. I'll try putting the description and  quotation marks back in, and name the texture "texture.White_Blue_and_Gold_Stripes" or some variations like that. Thanx for the insight.
