Static(?) on the radio.

Postby Lefsa123 » Sat Nov 03, 2007 10:57 pm

Every once in a while I will receive what sounds like static from ATC whenever they communicate with me or another airplane.  It doesn't happen all the time, and I can solve the problem by pressing the Q (sound on/off) button.  Once to turn off, then again to turn on.  I have an antiquated Dell 2400, on board sound, 1 gig Ram  :-[.  Is this just a little bug, is my computer to blame?  I plan on a major computer upgrade soon, but am curious as to what is causing this small, but anoying problem.  Great many thanks in advance.

Good morning and here's wishing that your day goes well for you.

Let me just jump right in here and say what happened to me.  This may or may not be the problem - - - but with a thought if all else fails after all the other  Guys help you.   I also have an old PC as a back-up and for all other work except for FSX flying.   Once in a while I seem to get this sound like static in my speakers and acts just like you described.   I discovered that the noise was coming from one of my fans !!!!!!!    After I took care of the fan  - - - no more static  :)    Just a last ditch try if all else fails.     Hope you solve the problem.

    Have a good one,   caveman

Thanks for the response, Caveman.  I guess I didn't describe the "static" the way I hear it.  My fault. :(  It is hard to describe.  Whatever ATC is trying to say, or another aircraft even, I hear static, but in a cadence of the words trying to be spoken.  It isn't a steady static in other words.  All other sounds are fine, even in non-FSX games.  But thanks for the fan idea.  My last computer in fact did have this problem as well.  That is what makes me think the fan is not at fault.  Again, thanks for responding!
