Go Striker, and I'll wait until Ingvarr does his thing with Dx10.

NickN - grateful thanks for the link to the UT update as I run both Canada and the USA.  Once I get and install Acceleration sometime late next week I'll install the patch,,,,,,and I'll post my next set of woes.

Great project, really looking forward to that tool.

With 15 I had my Amiga 500 - with a extended RAM to 1MB, built it in myself.....

Great work guys!
Thanks for your time and work,

Cheers,
Fabian

Hi, thanks for thinking of all the less-flush XP/DX9 users out there. I can't imagine I'll have Vista for at least two more years, especially ast DX10 doesn't seem to have made much of a difference visually and my performance is okay most of the time with what I have. Looks really promising - nice one mate!!

Well, I'll tell you now, you won't have to worry about this project being cancelled, because it works perfectly on XP.

However, since I wan't this to be a universal release, meaning, for all systems capable of running FSX, I'm still going through Vista 32- and 64-bit testing with Montie and Mango on FSW.  Once all that works, I'll release it for everyone.

This should work with all versions of FSX, except for SP2 in DX10.  SP2 in DX9 should work, but I think DX10 uses a different shader system.  If Ingvarr decides to make a modded DX10 shader, then that'll be great.  Of course, if the DX9 shader works in DX10, I'm sure most users probably won't mind much if they lose white caps.

I mean, come on, whitecaps?  sure, it's nice, but is it essential?  I'd rather get rid of water shimmering and flickering than experience whitecaps that only happen at slightly higher windw speeds...

Hmmm, news... :-?

Ah, okay here's some news, so far, I think the latest build works.  I just have to wait for my BETA testers to get back to me on that.

As for when this program will be out, it could be a week or two, not because I'm incompatent, and not because my BETA testers are slow, but because fate has just just chopped my driveshaft in half.

Yeah, my computer won't start.  I press the power button, and nothing.  Not even BIOS, or even just info from my graphics card.  Nothing.

I had this problem before, and a change of motherboard seemed to have fixed it, but now the problem is back, and since I have no other computer with the same programming software, or info, I'm just going to have to wait and see what my local PC experts have to say.

Until then, my BETA testers are currently testing the latest build (obviously) and so far, things, in the way of functionality, are looking up.  However, If my computer refuses to work, I may have to get a new one, and throw the current one in my pool.

Anyway, all should be well.  In fact, I'm so optimistic, I'll say that the program will probably be out by, possible, next Wednesday.

Str!ker

I can confirm your beta is working under both XP x64 and x32.

I have read a few reports about what Alrot is reporting where the new shaders data is not being written to the shader terrain folder. I do not know if it is language related, some type of inconsistency with older video cards which may not support the higher shader functions, or, some type of user account related issue, but I have seen the same issue reported one or two times over the last several weeks with the instructions that were posted by David.

Nick, how can you know if my program works in 64 and 32?  Have you tested it on your PC?  Because a while ago, Mango's Vista 64-bit didn't work with my program, but I may have solved that.  Montie's works fine.

Anyway, Alex, redownload the Water20.fxh file and copy and paste it, don't do any file editing, or saving as in Notepad.  I've explained on your other topic.

Ah, so that means 64-bit Vista is having issues, but 64-bit XP works fine.  Okay, that's cool.

I've made two programs anyway, mainly for the 64-bit Vista people, so now I have a 32 and 64 bit version of my program, and that should work fine with 64-bit XP right?  I mean, it only makes sense...
