i believe that would be "light bloom" cause it is in the same spot as the english version 8-) and with light bloom on in FSX for some reason it will white out the ac in the menu...i had that happen to me a few months back.

Its a hardware issue with your card not having the shader abilities. Bloom and other settings as such do not cause that problem on higher class cards. That is the light bloom enabled checkbox.

One thing I see I missed... RATS

yes sir

and if you drop your altitude into the haze line you should get a nice bloom even without bloom enabled

Aye,

I'm one of this gentlemen who can't use bloom without a big loss of fps.
And somewhere I found a different sun.cfg called "sun effect tweak" working without textures.
With this one bloom is impossible, tooo big blooom.

Well, for sure it's to early to come to a result, i need more testing NN's Sun at different altitudes and so on. Also I found the rays a little bit too sharp and clearly visible.

Alternative .cfg, orginal textures, card is an ATI 1300
Rays are smoother, more realistic?
May I?

I will compare both tweaks and maybe force NN to version 1.1 :D

BTW: Thanks for the good work

All you have done by screwing with the suneffect.cfg is increased the corona center and in doing so left a huge blue gap between the sun and the corona, and, rendered the bloom option worthless because it will wipe out the screen. On top of that, the 'rays' look like a geometric starburst instead of a natural sun glow, and, if you zoom back far enough the expanded 'glow' shows 'rings' which become obvious in the sky.

I understand the reasoning behind what you are posting, but it does not work because the textures must be altered to compensate for the config file edits. The idea is to have it work for everyone, bloom on or off.

no version 1.1 needed

Very nice Nick.
I installed it and it's a keeper.
Thanks!

BTW I never use lens flare. I feel it simply replicates what most phtographers try to advoid.
I much perfer the illusion of viewing from another aircraft rather than through a camera with lens flare.

Excellent work.  Thank you Nick for this gift.  Also, thank you for all of your tweaks (windows xp and fsx).  I've followed your advice on this forum and have essentially doubled my fps, which meant the difference between hoping to enjoy fsx and enjoying fsx.

I have it on and its staying here too!  I usually depart Manchester 2 hours before Dawn, so I`m usually well above 10,000 by the time the sun starts showing.  Even then, the effect is absolutely brillliant.  Nice one Nick and thanks!
