Instant replay problem

Postby alb469 » Mon Oct 15, 2007 8:28 am

I often use to check out how my landings are.In fsx when the a/c is coming in it yaws from side to side but in the cockpit you cant tell.Someone in fs9 had this problem or something similar to it but as my fs9 worked okay I never checked it out. The fix for it must be similar in fsx. Has anyone else had this problem and what is the fix?

I am not sure if this is what you are talking about but for the most part the side to side motion can be caused by several things
Air speed to slow for the control surfaces to be usefull.
The over all efectiveness of the control surfaces This can be adjusted in the Aircraft CFG file.
And last but not least the dynamics of the model itself. Some designers do not know the correct way to define a aircraft as a result you can have one that flys poorly unfortunately there is nothing you can do to fix that type of problem.
All I can tell you is to try a faster air speed and to increase the effectiveness of the controll surfaces in the aircraft cfg file if this does not solve the problem. About the only thing left is to scrap the aircraft. I have had to do this as nothing I seemed to do helped.
Bad dynamicys can be a killer. :-?

Gary. I am referring to the instant replay function in options. The a/c work fine  the yawing occurs only in instant replay mode.I find this function very useful especially if I am trying out a new a/c,for example on takeoff did I drag the tail by using to much trim etc. You can also check out how good your landings are and make corrections.I think the problem is in the instant replay itself, if I recall the fs9 forum answers.I have been looking in the fs9 forum here because this is where I read it but so far no luck.

Just like in FS9, the FSX Record, Play and Instant Replay functions appears to have 'flaws'.

Give FS Recorder Module for FSX a try. Much better recorder with many options not available in the default.

Dave

If you do install, I suggest you use the manual installation method. I my experience, the auto-installer did not format the 'dll.xml' file entry properly. Alternately, use the auto-installer, and then open the 'dll.xml' file with Notepad and properly format the entry.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Instant replay isn't too bad unless I select a time over 180 seconds. Then it's unpredictable. Stutters, hangs or crashes the aircraft but never seen this yaw you've experienced. I have seen pitch changes and hops on the runway.

Dave is right, the builtin recorder has been broken since FS2000 came out. Instant worked well in FS9 for me.

I just installed FS Recorder yesterday. It installed correctly with it's installer. Sure works good and the size of the "recording" is 1/20th the size of the files produced by the recorder built in to FS. I've been testing it with Acceleration and it needs a little work to deal with the helicopter sling loads, as Matthias (FS Recorder's author) has correctly anticipated. Otherwise it works great.

Highly recommended.
