SP2 and the error messages

Postby Daube » Tue Sep 25, 2007 10:38 am

Hi all,

I know nobody here will be able to answer that question, but since Mr Taylor is coming here from times to times, I hope he gets the information.

I would simply like to know if anything will be done in the next patch to suppress the error messages for incompatible fs98 gauges.

I understand that the popups asking for confirmations would never be removed, the devs have done this choice for security matters, OK, too bad.
But those error popups for each FS98 gauge are really annoying. It's even worse if you change aircraft during the flight, since they come even slower. On a plane I have tested, almost all the gauges were incompatible, and the total loading time of that plane was more than two minutes because of all the needed clicks ! This is something that refrain me from testing planes. Sometimes I just get scared of loading an FS9 or FS2002 plane I downloaded, because of this painfull loading.

I'm not asking for anything big or new here. If a gauge does not work, then don't show it in the cockpit, that's enough, don't you think ?

I get your point. However, from what I have seen, an incompatible gauge will not be used by FSX, so you will not get any problems in the gauge behavior, you just get no gauge :)

Then I don't know, maybe just a simpe log file in the plane's folder containing the list of gauges that could not be displayed ?

Or just one error popup for all the gauges, with their names, at the end of the loading. That would be a good compromise don't you think ?
