Loading problem.

When I click "Fly Now!" It goes to my desktop screen and the loading bar appears there. (I have XP.) After loading it just sits there with the desktop screen unable to click on anything but able to press Esc. and Alt+F4 to exit Flight Sim X or I can shut it down using Ctrl.+Alt.+Delete. This often happens on multiplayer but also happens on free flight. Extra info: It's FSX deluxe (not SP1) runs on XP and I also get an error about low virtual memory and having to "terminate" the program fsx.exe. I keep my terrain, mesh, buildings etc. to a minimum (you may complement on how bad my computer is later.) I've had FSX for 6 months and this error has been occuring for about a month now and it's getting worse.

Sounds like you've got too many programs running continuously "in the background" all the time. Before you start / open FSX, make sure that all other programs / software are shut down...that would include your anti-virus and anti-spyware software / programs. Also do a disc cleanup and de-frag before opening FSX.

Now that you think of it...I do have a lot of anti virus and spyware on my computer...is SP1 hard to install? I'm not sure if my computer can handle it... And also, how do you "de-frag" your computer?

Hmm...sometimes I have Yahoo! IM running or an internet explorer. I used to have around 20 prgrams running that I was not aware about since last month and deleted those quite simply and improved FSX's performance.

Is your problem now solved? Remember that due to the advanced graphics, FSX is a memory and resorce hog. You may be able to run 10 programs all at the same time on your rig with no problem. However, once you decide to open FSX, you might want to make sure that FSX is the ONLY program running and all other programs are shut down. And it's not just FSX...that rule is pretty much the same with any PC simulator or game that has advanced 3D graphics. I have the Apollo simulator Eagle Lander 3D and I have to close all other programs on my rig before I can use it. If I don't, it just won't run properly.

Hmm...in Windows Task Manager I found that vsmon.exe or Zone Alarm is Using up 60 CPU usage! WOW! Does anyone know if it is safe to turn this off while playing FSX on multiplayer?? I don't even think I use Zone Alarm anymore, I think I deleted it a while back...I'm installing SP1 after I see the results of turning off all Antivirus etc...

First off you should only have one antivirus running on your machine or you can get conflicts, 2 if you want a good firewall get " comodo free " best ive seeing and dosnt seem to have a huge hit, its a full version firewall. 3 download ccleaner and once installed go to tools, startup and look at that huge list of garabge running, do an internet search on each file running and remove unnecasary files from the list. go to http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/supertweaks.htm and stop all unneccary services then you shaould be running nice. Mind you if you want to get your machine running at its best then your going to have to learn all abt it, and even crash it a few times, thats how i learned.

I have discovered an immovable file. I cannot delete it nor can I move it and it starts whenever I turn on my computer, it (along with my computer) shall DIE a terrible death in a few months (I've had this computer for 3 1/2 years and it's time to get a new one.) Which is why I am not going to install SP1. Or modify this computer anymore.
