VC head mvement

Postby Ravang » Mon Aug 27, 2007 9:26 pm

I need to know how to get rid of the head movement when an aircraft moves in the VC view as I have a space craft and in space the vc camera shoots through the windows and shows about 40ft in front of the craft making the vc useless :-[ [smiley=dankk2.gif]

It's always solvable by going into the 2D panel (I believe the default key is F10?).

I'm not sure if there is a way to get rid of that head movement, however it was by far my favorite thing in FSX (before I un-installed it ;))

There are some lines in the aircraft.cfg, or maybe the panel.cfg I'm not sure anymore... or is it fsx.cfg ?
In any case, those lines are in a section with a very explicit name, you can't miss them. They contain factors for the dynamic head movement. Most likely, if you set those factors to 0, the head won't move anymore... like FS9  :-/

In space it moves the view point outside the vc making the vc useless and most the the controls are only in the vc :-[ :)

What spacecraft are you using? It sounds like it could be a problem with the specific aircraft/spacecraft. Also how do you control your spacecraft in space. FSX doesn't model RCS control so I've never been able to maneuver at very high altitudes.

Just in case you want to fly realistic spacecraft with realistic physics try this sim out:

http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/orbit.html

You can't beat the price but be prepared to learn a bit of orbital mechanics before you get anywhere near proficient. There's a steep learning curve.

Is this a addon for FSX or is it another game?

It's a whole different sim. FSX has much better ground textures and terrain. Orbiter doesn't have much in the terrain department except meshes for some areas. There is an add on in development that will add landable terrain but it's still in public beta. Orbiter is meant as a space flight simulator so the ground environment is a little lacking but with level 10 textures the view from orbit is amazing. What Orbiter provides is fully realistic physics of space flight. Travel to the Moon and all planets of the solar system and there are even add on solar systems available for the scifi fans.

Installation is easy. Download two .zip archives and unzip them into a folder anywhere on your computer. If you don't like it you can uninstall by simply deleting the folder. Nothing in the registry. You will also need an add on for sound. The sound utility is written by the same Dan Steph (Dan Polli) who created FSPassengers. You can find a link on the main Orbiter site to his Orbiter website. While you are there check out the Delta Glider IV. It's systems are fully functional and complete with a living crew that can die if you don't take on enough oxygen, subject them to high G for too long, reenter badly or crash the ship.

DGIV also has a really cool heat shield effect.

The CaptainSim Space Shuttle

I switch to the vc and the camera goes through the floor and shows the outside but it works fine on the ground or under 100,000ft but you have too use it at +500,000ft  :(

I tried setting the Head Movement settings in the fsx.cfg to 0 but it still happens...help :-/ [smiley=dankk2.gif]

I mean, read the first line: it's a different game. It's not FSX stuff.
