Any "roaming" animal programs yet ???

Postby caveman16 » Mon Aug 20, 2007 4:06 pm

Hey Guys,  hope your day is going well for you,

Just a thought,  as I "fly" around in Alaska most of the time exploring, it sure would be nice to "burn-up" some frame rates to See some bears in the area.  :)

Are there any programs offered yet to those like me / have I missed finding them ?

I don't have an interest in flying "missions" - - - just enjoy my exploring the wilds of Alaska like I've been doing for about four years now,  still have about 98 percent to explore.

Sure do appreciate your time in helping me,   Have a good one - - caveman

If you get the settings up enough to see animals, it won't be the bears that will be burning up your FPS.....

As far as I know, they're aren't any programs yet..

In most areas most of the time you would be lucky indeed to see bears from an airplane unless you were flying very low and slow and looking specifically for them. The bear density just isn't that great even in the most remote areas of Alaska. The only exception would be flying over a river when they are catching salmon and I doubt FSX simulates that. Most bear sightings would be more likely when the bears enter human areas such as crossing a runway. Of course you can try turning up the settings to see how dense the FSX bear population can get but you'll unlikely be "up to your armpits" in bears.  ;D

P.S. Just tried something. It worked but not completely. I have Instant Scenery from Flight 1 and tried inserting a bear from the FSX animals.bgl file. It works but the bear just walks in place. Might be possible to create that salmon river scene with it however if you sink the bear slightly into the water/ground. From the air that might look like it's fishing.

Hey Guys, I know that this is a flight sim, but What I was really getting at was: - - - as I was making ready to take-off from the water the other day, I spotted this AI boat not far from me.  Anyway, I moved my plane over towards it and it moved away.   Acting as a predator, I gave chase,  we were all over the water and at last I pulled-up near it and "it" acted like it "gave up" !!!!!!   After I let it go,  the chase was on again and again.    I was really surprised that  "that boat" acted like I was a cat after a mouse !!!!    Any of you Guys have such a thing happen to you ?  Try it, you will be as surprised as I was - - - I'm sure.

Than a thought came to me,  If That boat could be replaced with  an animal or a bird or a whale or even a person in a canoe fishing  - - - - - - see what I'm getting at ?    The AI that is already in the sim could be used for other things other than planes.    The fps  could be controlled the same way as you would by the slider for AI, - - - more or less ,  as you wanted.

It sure would add variety to the sim in so many different ways.

How about your thoughts on this ?

     Have a good one,  caveman
