I think you have FS9 mixed up with FSX. some of those lines are for FS9 such as

TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.000000
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4.500000
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4
TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21

Thanks, miltestpilot :)

I'll make the changes and get back with you.

Those lines dont belong in FSX at all

Your video card may not be able to run the AA and AF settings I posted. You may be better of at 2xAA and 8xAF

I have been poking around listening to all of you and have things looking pretty good and running pretty smooth...  one question though

Every now and again I get pink flashes in my water textures, they are pretty large...  any ideas on how to get rid of that?

Nvidia has relased new drivers to deal with problems with various programs including FSX (162.18).  Installed them and got a real surprise.  I am using Nhancer to set my game settings instead of nvidia's control panel like Nick suggested.  Deleted Nvidia profile for FSX and proceeded to use Nhancer to set settings.  When I tried to set 16x AF Nhancer came up with, "option has been explicitly disabled by Nvidia for this application" :o.  Using nvidia control panel I can set 16x AF (although this may be placebo effect by nvidia)  There have been various complaints about nvidia drvers in FSX on various forums and this is their response.  Makes me want to buy ATI

Good question miltestpilot ha ha!  My scenery as a whole is set to med or medium high I think but it does it on low too....  I'll check that out though, thanks.

edit...

I forgot

ADD this to the config file too under the scenery heading!

[SCENERY]
SmallPartRejectRadius=2

It DOES HELP and you probably wont notice what it eliminates. You can also boost that to 3-4 but you may start loosing the distance trees if you do.

You can not substitue the payware defrag software for any other brand and you can not skip any steps except the use of Registry Mechanic, which you can skip.

Be careful, you assume the risks of such tweaking

Reply #65 - Yesterday at 20:14:48      Nvidia has relased new drivers to deal with problems with various programs including FSX (162.18).  Installed them and got a real surprise.  I am using Nhancer to set my game settings instead of nvidia's control panel like Nick suggested.  Deleted Nvidia profile for FSX and proceeded to use Nhancer to set settings.  When I tried to set 16x AF Nhancer came up with, "option has been explicitly disabled by Nvidia for this application" .  Using nvidia control panel I can set 16x AF (although this may be placebo effect by nvidia)  There have been various complaints about nvidia drvers in FSX on various forums and this is their response.  Makes me want to buy ATI

Installer screwed up.  Had to uninstall; run driver cleaner pro; reinstall 162.18; uninstall Nhancer and reinstall it (If you install new drivers you will have to reinstall Nhancer)  Have full control over options .  Drivers are good (First 100 series drivers that have as good IQ as 80-90 series drivers) and they are listed as WHQL not beta (but with nvidia that distinction often does not mean anything).  Users on various hardware forums give 162.18's good marks
