MilTP:  I have been playing around with these numbers all night,  and with due respect to NickN, I found that I has to put FFTF back in again.

Don't laugh but I have been flying around the Victoria area, Vancouver using Van+, and the Friday Harbour area over UTXUSA very smoothly with, wait for it, TBM and SWTO both at 40, ...... and FFTF at .05.

What I don't know is what would I need to do if I push TBM up, and SWTO down -- which way would I move FFTF.

Or TBM 30, SWTO 41,  and FFTF .10??

There is no need ever to fly an aircraft in FSX - think of it as a game of chance based on tweaking.  I'm not sure what the winners get, but the losers have a lemon.

C'mon Phil Taylor how should the numbers go?   Or is it all trial and error or to put a nice word on it "empirical".

Bjorn:  the 6700 is great, near the top, but there are some better ie the 6800 and I guess the new quad cores are great too.

You sure can't have the 8800GTX - it's driving four screens for me.  And what I read in some of the other forums, is that what I think is unsatisfactory would be considered smooth.  I am just a perfectionist with insufficient computer skills and a tech shop that sees me as an easy mark for the next best thing.

I have got one of those simple CPU meters that come with the Windows Gadget Bar  -- and I am startled to see that when loading scenery after clicking Fly Now both cores of the 6700 are actually maxed.  Clearly that's the reason why many posts complain of slow loading - the game is CPU bound and choked.

When I can afford it, and about when I reckon my wife is far enough away, I will get another 8800 to help with the rendering, although the game is not SLI.   And as soon as they come out at the end of this year or early the next one of the new Penryn processors that Intel is talking about.  That will be the biggest boost.

The only difference between an E6700 and an E6600 is the FSB multiplier that determines the overall CPU frequency. The E6600's is at 9 by default, the E6700's is at 10.

Since my E6600 runs overclocked, I had to cut the multiplier down to 8 to prevent it from smoking away under load. I'd have to do the same with an E6700, so overall, there's no difference between the two.

Hey Bjorn.. its just a parody and the subtitiles were the focus. I meant no insult or disrespect!

No offense taken John, but it's kind of wierd when you do not know what to follow - the original spoken parts or the subtitles. :P

It's retarded. The framerate sticks to the framelock and there is zero stutters... yet the blurries are horrendous at anything above 190knots and scenery popping VFR is plain annoying.

EDIT:
YAY! Now when I try and uninstall it tells me to insert disk 1.

ERROR.

1607: Unable to install Installshield scripting runtime.

EDIT2:
YAY! Now it is not even in the control panel so I cannot try to uninstall it again. Well done Microsoft.

EDIT3:
Right. So after it had an error during uninstall it DID actually remove SP1.

EDIT4:
Added Real environment pro sun texture to fsX. No more retarded yellow circle in the sky.

EDIT5:
Much better. I am now grabbing the water shader files from SP1 and then chucking them into RTM.
