Them tweaks were amazing for smoothness but now I  get SEVERE blurs.

P4 3.4ghz, 2gb, X850XTPE.

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=80
UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=31
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=972
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=486
SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT=40 LOD_RADIUS=4.500000
SmallPartRejectRadius=2.0

Eh? Probably my dated crap.

"DO NOT USE FFTF, especially for dual core systems... DELETE IT FROM THE FSX.CFG FILE "

I looked in the fsx folder for this and couldnt find it, i did a search for it too and its not comming up.  I'm sorry guys I am such a newb at this.

I have looked in control pannel under display (advanced) and can only make my refresh rate as hight as 60...  the only options I have is 59 and 60   :-?.

Mr Mike:  you're lucky.  You need to find fsc.cfg and ADD it before you can remove it.  It has a default of .33 so unless you added the line, don't worry about removing it.

BUT Nick - I should have listened to myself.

You clearly missed out several steps in your instructions about nHancer because I now have a truly stuffed up system.

I removed all the games as you said - but there is no X, only 9 by the way.  But remove them I did.

I typed in Flight Simulator X into the new application strip that came up when I pressed ADD.

Then there is no save function that I could find under any of the menu options.

Then no matter how I tried I couldn't get fsx.exe into the bottom box using Add and Browse.  It kept telling me that fsx.exe could not be part of the nHancer string.

THEN I thought that I had restored the original profiles, but none appear in nVidia control panel.  It is totally empty.

I guess my only option is to reinstall the driver, and wait for some clarifying advice.

YOU SHOULD NEVER UNDERESTIMATE OUR INCOMPETENCE.

AND IF YOU ARE WRITING FOR BJORN, MILTESTPILOT ETC WHO ARE COMPUTER EXPERTS, TELL THE REST OF US TO DO NOTHING.

Then do nothing. ;) ;D

Or leave the profile stuff out and use Nick's settings as global settings (bullet in global).

I have those settings enabled for about every other game I play on my machine and they work like a charm.

anks Bjorn: sorry I blew.  I just get frustrated at my inability to get things right.

I have done the settings on Global.  Now how do I save these settings or is it automatic.

I found an Activation on one of he submenus but this didn't seem to relate

Things are working out pretty good for me.  The graphics are good but its a bit choppy in fast turns.  I'm not sure my frame rate.  I'm going to play around a little bit tonight.

I wish I knew more about setting up my system.  I was always scared of really screwing some thing up.

If some one wants to take some time to walk me through some things to make my system better I'll gladly give you my cell # ha ha ha ha!

Thanks Nick. After my spit, I went back into nHancer and used global. I believe that I followed your instructions exactly.  Without knowing the technicalities, there is certainly a much improved performance.

After messing around, the other games profiles are back, although unchecked, but there is no FSX.  So I can assume that whatever I have done seems to have eliminated that profile.

I will stick to Global, because even from your updated instructions, and Bjorn's, I cannot work out how to build a profile for FSX.  And for some curious reason I cannot get into nHancer's on-line help.

I am one of those who follows the rule:  "if all else fails, read the instructions".

Nick, have you been or are you going into the deep outback of Alaska on your planned fishing trip?  Enjoy.

Mr Mike:  it sounds like your autogen is set too high. Go into Display..Settings...Graphics...and pull the autogen slider back to the left.  Experiment.  Also either set your framerate around 18-25, or Unlimited, but not in between.  Test.

However could I suggest that you read through the FSX and SP1 thread in this forum.  It really is a beginner's guide to tweaking.  Unlike me, read slowly and carefully, as our Gurus have provided extraordinarily

almost forgot...

He said disk access it WAY to high with the scenery radius set to 6.5. He set it back to 4.5 with the numbers above.

I have to agree. I set mine back as well and it was much smoother. Bumping that up does make the scenery stand out better but the cost of the disk access stutter is not worth the change. The idea is to find the best settings between blurs and stutters. I wont live with stutters but can take 'small' blur issues here and there (not constant blurs, just ones that may pop up from time to time) as long as the textures 'snap' back to sharp within a second.

Shutting the boat down now... take care

Apparently in looking for a solution to the stutter issue brought on by high disk access it would appear he may have stumbled on a pattern or relationship between the SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT= and the TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=

Here is what he sent me:

Try the following with the frame lock on unlimited or to the smoothest locked setting.

If TBM is set to X, set SWTO to Y

TBM
